Hi
What do you say about having all midi, vsti tracks(i am doing techno music) recorded down to audio tracks, inclusive rhythm, drum track and then work on them with effects.
Is anyone doing that commonly or is it better
to do that just before the final mix when you have whole track arranged. With this i don't mean the freeze replace but i speak of that in term of quality. How are this doing profesionals in electronic dance music scene?
thanx

I think there is no clear and only one answer to your question. You found 2 possibilities and there are even more. If you bounce all your vsti material to audio tracks then you can take your tracks to another studio with another set of plugins or another platform to mix it, for example. But having all in one computer I think it's pointless to bounce all your internal (virtual) synths to audio tracks unless you want the tracks to remix (say, have a long pad and then you cut it and loop a part to sound more techie. If I were you I wouldn't mind the problem. I would just do what my heart says and where my instincts lead... In technical terms, if you bounce your vsti or not this doesn't matter (correct me if I'm wrong.

It was all about internal (sequencer) synths (vsti/dxi)
BUT: If you use Pulsar synths it's better to add fx, eq, filters in SFP environment rather than bouncing all to your sequencer. It was widely discussed about mixing in sfp or a sequencer here and the conclusion was to mix in sfp if possible (i.e. your dsp resources let it do).

It's possible you speak about another thing:

in my experience I found it's better to finish an arrangement first and then bother the fx/eq etc. If you bounce a vsti first it's more difficult (less comfortable) to change a note in such melody line. It's a waste of time and in my case an idea vapour from my mind
