The End of my CW Excursion
Sorry for being negative, folks, but a man has to say what a man has to say. Just built a new DAW, newest Asus mobo, P4 3.2 GHz, HT, 2 gig certified RAM etc. Everything works fine, Cubase SX 2 is as happy as it goes. It's only the CW cards that do not like HT, or perhaps they do, but then they don't like ACPI mode, or if they do, then the PCI bus won't give then enough bandwidth, etc. etc. etc., who cares anyway? Conclusion: CW is going bankrupt and does not update its products to a state of the art standard of 2004. I don't have time for this s.h.i.t. Gonna buy a new card that realises that PCs have moved on and are not where they were 1999. Greetings to all, keep up the good work.

Information for new readers: A forum member named Braincell is known for spreading lies and malicious information without even knowing the basics of, what he is talking about. If noone responds to him, it is because he is ignored.

PS. I just want to warn you so your disappointment will not be endless - in my personal experience both the UAD1 and powercore cards have some issues with with HT as wellas with PCI bandwith and yes my UAD1 card does lot of clicking and popping sometimes, so maby you should abandon computer recording completely - it is after all on the edge technology!

Well, probably I did overlook it, has it been deleted meanwhile? Unless you're talking about this "Patience, please stand by" topic, where people get horny only because somebody was indeed able to speak to some official CW dude and that was it. No info, no nothing. Is that all?On 2004-01-19 16:27, Immanuel wrote:

Right. I'm not trying to teach people what to do, or not to do. I am only telling what I am NOT going to do: I am not going to transform my new powerful DAW into an ancient system without ACPI, HT, USB 2 or firewire only for them ancient CW cards to be happy. Then I'll rather buy a modern sound card that fits into a modern system.
Cheers

Thanks, man. But I am not going to do any gymnastics for that. If the CW cards do not work out of the box with the most modern systems around, then I am not going to use them CW cards anymore. I don't have the time to disable this, reset that, tweak this bios setting, search this or other internet site, reformat this hdd, reinstall windows in tis or other mode, etc. Modern computers have huge amounts of power and if an add-on card is not able to use that, then that's the wrong add-on card for my purposes. I don't want to tweak computers, I want to make music. On 2004-01-19 18:37, Herr Voigt wrote:
I've read, Andre Dupke wrote something about CW and HT. He found out that it is possible. Search the forum, GonZoft.

I did do loads of tweaking in the past. Took me weeks to bring my Pulsar XTC to work in XTC mode. There was (and is still) no info by CW as to how to setup the XTCProject.pro file or as to how to handle the merge module. The first XTC software I got (the one with the card) didn't even had an editor for setting up the XTCProject.pro, so actually I was only able to use this crap a few months after I bought it. And the first thing I did then, was to post a little guide to XTC mode here in PLanetZ, so don't tell me I am impatient. But now I am fed up. There are loads of other sound cards out there, with and without dsps, that work out of the box. Gona get myself an RME or one of them new Yamaha mixers and that's it.
SFP is running like a clock here with HT AND ACPIOn 2004-01-19 16:15, GonZoft wrote:

can you explain your problem?
cu,
andre
I used to have a lot of problems with my computer/cw system. That was a long time ago but now it works like it should except the modular patch bug and a couple of invisible cables in the project window. The modular bug is severe though and really ticks me off. I have never used XTC mode and I will never use XTC mode. I just do not trust it.

Right Paul... Gonzoft, the SFP platform has infinite options in SFP mode. But considering you have an XTC card, I understand. XTC quity messy to set up, thank you for your XTC hints topic. It helps me lot when I try to get it to work.
Now that XTC finally runs smooth for me, thanks to your topic you say you're selling the card.
XTC cuts seriously in Pulsar's possibilities, and if VST plugins are what you're after, there might be a lot of other cards and plugins out there that work smoother. But if you're after a flexible and custom studio, SFP is killer tool which is quite unique.
If you feel you should not be bothered with tweaking or setting up XTC, you're right to sell it. Good luck with your other card!
