Oscilloscope

What do you think of the chance is to get one of these babies as a variation on a spectrum analysis plugin. I personaly would totaly dig it. This would be good for those amature Modular Guys out there who want to see what the waveforms they are creating look like. Might also help those out there who are visual learners to see which functions do what on, what compound waveforms look like, how to create cool looking waveforms that sound cool too! Anyhow, I was just hoping that someone either has somthing like this out there for use with SFP or if not... if one of you oh so very kind developers could dream up somthing like this I would be most gratefull.

I agree Capo, an oscilliscope is something I have always dreamt of when playing with synths ... just to understand that much more how the various components effect the waveform.

I think that winAmp possibly had some plug-ins that allowed for this? Perhaps that was just spectral analysis though.. does anyone know anymore details on this?

It is probably better to use a windows/mac tool so you do not waste DSP. The majority of the CPU cycles needed for an oscilloscope would be for drawing on the screen anyways, and it can be directx(or whatever mac uses for fast graphics)Instead of usual creramware screen drawing.

for winamp you need a "line in" plugin for input and one of the VIZ plugins (like a big version of the winamp display scope)

Ah well shoot... I guess I could not wait. I went and bought me a 1958 Heathkit OM3 cathoid ray tube based Scope... plus an extra tube and a bunch of probes!

!!! Got that bad boy from a retierd Ham Radio guy who worked in a telecomunications position over in Canada... so I am pretty sure that it will be slick! And if it is screwwy... well... I guess I will be hunting the net for a schematic to repair any broken connections ect... But I doubt that this will be the case.

But on the topic of software ones... I did find one called winscope... only problem was that when I loaded it... I about overloaded my computer... I could imagine it thinking... "Cannot compute... Cannot compute..." Sinc I think it was not ready for such a plethora of audio drivers... It just kept popping up error windows and filling my whole screen with buttons to click... no fun.

Anyhow...

Thanks for the replies and if anyone finds one out there PLEASE! post (if it is freeware or sharware) a link or the actual file to some forum so that we may all have a greater understanding of what we are making.

Oorrrrrrrrrr... what about...

An Oscilloscope Module for the Modular V2!!!!!!! now that would be DA BOMB since you could either route external audio sources into the modular or just internal OSC modules into it... man ... that would be so tight.... AH!!! I wish I had one... well I will soon enough... but hardware instead.

I use Wavelab for scope/meter/analyzer. It works on live input, and since I normally record my mixes in Wavelab anyway... Works great.

The win VA is for free and works.

The best soft oscilloscope I tried is the one included in VAZ MODULAR.
I use it via the external live VAZ module.

It is very fast, stable and precise, it triggers to any frequency even with pitch modulation.

http://217.157.5.178/knef/vumeter/ has a simple .exe file which connects to your windows default wav driver. It's a great freeware measuring tool...

This is cool, you can help yourself, but i find it better to just close my eyes and pay lots of attention to what I'm leastening at. It gives me better results.
