Stuttering audio

I've got this problem that whenever my project starts getting a bit more than simple, my audio sounds stutter or disappear in large chunks when laying down MIDI tracks. I'm using PIV, 384 RAM, SFP (13 DSP), Cubase SX and 4ms latency.
Hope someone can help.

Try to raise the latency to 7ms or maybe even 10 ms, It shouldn't make that much of a difference on the feel while recording, but it will free up some cpu-resources.

If that doesn't do the trick, get more RAM! XP should have at least 512 MB.
