I was nearly asleep last night when the idea for new Creamware cards came to me.
Basically Creamware should make some DSP cards with the new sharcs but make them like the UAD 1 or powercore i.e no I/O
Let them be PCI express or PCI X or whatever the new standard is.
That way you basically get a Creamware accelerator that you can use with your old cards and get the benefits of SFP with XTC plugins on the new cards.
The new cards would have to have their own incompatible plugins. Creamware wouldn't have to recompile their whole range of plugs to start with just Vinco, masterverb and the best synths.
Then your old cards basically become flexor/modular accelerators.
This would make the new cards appeal to current customers and help their introduction.
Then Creamware can add I/O to the new cards over time and have a smooth transition to the new platform.
my dream of new Creamware cards

But the new SHARC chips (not TigerSHARC) are code compatible, just faster. So why would there have to be a new platform? Also, WHAT'S WRONG WITH I/O???
