Hello folks,
When using up my demo hour last night, I got the impression that it's possible to load at least two Vinco's per Sharc. What's your opinion, any comments on this?

Vinco did sound veeery nice indeed!

Vinco seems very light. You didn't indicate what card(s) you have, but in some projects I use anywhere between 6 - 10.

I have a PowersamplerII-card. Since most people here probably have more horsepower than that, I thought it would be easier if I asked for the number of Vincos per Shark. Well, 6-10 Vincos sounds really nice... but which card do you use to do that?

Depending on your project, you might be able to squeeze some extra Vinco's in there. If you use one project for the compression, print the effect, then change to another project for whatever work you have to do... I've got extra DSP, but I think a Pulsar II might be able to accomodate that.

On the topic of Vinco, I use the STM-48S and I have found that all dynamic plugins (though maybe more I suppose, I haven't really flexed it out) aren't linking properly. I'll link two channels, load up Vinco, and like compressors, and finding that only the left channel is getting compressed. Any ideas?

Thanks for answering again, Interloper. I'm afraid I still don't have a good picture of the DSP consumption. I suppose the best measure is the number of Vincos per Sharc, or, the possible number of Vincos per card, loading ONLY a number of Vincos.

I have the 3 Sharc PSII and want to find out my possible number of Vincos (only) in XTC mode.

Creamware devices can load themselves across more than 1 dsp usually so its going to be tought to discern exact figures...

Yeah, but it must still possible to express the apporximate number of times a device could be loaded to a sharc as a percentage of a sharc. For example could a device require 160% of the processor power of single sharc. Or 10%. I've seen this in another thread on this site - percentage of single sharc - 10%.

Before buying Vinco, I'd need to know if i'll be able to load it 5,6 or 7 times on my 3 sharc card (in xtc mode, with nothing else loaded).

If the number of possible Vincos is lower than what I need, I will look elsewhere for vintage compression (probably UAD-1). I'm also in a bit of a hurry, especially if the Vinco figure will be negative.

Edit: CW support started 7 stereo Vincos on a Luna/PSII no problem. I'm buying it. Thanks to all.

BB54, glad you're making the purchase. It will be well worth it.

I've noticed the same, and have my configuration as follows to address that:

Stereo channel coming out of ASIO-32 driver > Vinco S > MultiFX S > two mono channels panned left & right into the 2448 (then link the channels).

It's been said that the Vinco works better used externally (more headroom), but If there is another way to do this, I'd be interested to know.
