I still have windows ME on my machine with creamware cards. i really hate it but it has excellent MIDI timing.

also i had an OASYS card in there but i am going to sell it so i took it out. it does not have XP drivers
(creamware + FS1R can do anything i need like that now)

is the MIDI timing on XP good like ME or crappy like windohs NT? i think thats about the only thing that would stop me upgrading unless anyone can think of another reason i may want to hold off.

the way i tested the midi timing was to sequence a hihat playing so fast that it was a "tone" in win98 the tone was all jittery but in ME it was solid

thanks for any help on this.

I haven't had any problems. I think XP is great! What sequencer are you using?

WinXP, wave drivers and CW cards is said to be a bad combo. That is all, I can think of. It will a little mroe RAM too, but you can disable quite a lot of services if you are brave enough.

It works great for me. Best is the protected memory for each application. You can have apps bomb out, shut them down, and relaunch them again. In ME that would lead to system instabililties.

Neutron, Why haven't you updated to Logic 4.8? Lots of bug fixes in there...

i just use logic for editing midi tracks and it work(ed) fine for me i did not want to risk screwing up something with an upgrade.

I think ME still has best MIDI. XP, used with DirectX 9b, has better MIDI as 98.
For my setup it's ok+stable, but I'm less nervous about MIDI.
