It's almost like asking to the meaning of life - only in this case a few people actually has the answer, but want reveal it.......

Take a look at this thread:

The answer is hidden between the lines somewhere - I'm sure of it!

I think we should start a raffle on this. Person closest to the date gets.... um .... a great prize.

Anyway, my first bet is: NEVER

But since I need a date to win that great prize, my second guess is: FEBRUARY 2004

6th of October 2003

or 26th of September 2003 if I get 2 shots

i think that Creamware made a big mistake by waiting this time so long with releasing Flexor. The fact is that i've lost interest in buying it. I have been waiting months for this flexor release. Now with only one month to go for the release of the Nord G2 Modular i've decided to put my money on that machine. I'm definitly not going to invest in flexor anymore. At this point i can do what i want in creamware modular III which is fantastic. But the new possibilities of a newly developed machine like the Nord G2 outshines the possibilities of the modular suite. And flexor is not going to change that for me personally anymore. I really don't understand why they waited that long with the release of flexor. And i don't even discuss the radio silence about flexor. Does it really exist?

I'm beginning to seriously believe that:

1) There's something seriously wrong with Flexor that they're trying to fix
2) They want to release it with SFP4 early next year
3) They want to modify it to run on Noah

But I agree, the gloss has really worn off.

my guess is for 29 september 2003
I hope that they will port mo3 and flexor to noah (even if i will never buy noah) because that will make noah a killer expander

For all who are waiting for flexor - for the sound quality and added functions that I see/hear, it will be worth any waiting you must do!

I don't know why the delay - I haven't even heard about an SFP 4.0 - but I really believe in Assaf's work...it's the best!

As for Flexor or Modular in Noah - my understanding is that this cannot be done. Use of the Modular requires a variable dsp architecture, and Noah requires a "fixed" dsp structure.
I suppose it might be possible to have a Modular Window for Noah that would have an absolute maximum dsp allocation for it, and then everything you do would have to fit within that allocation...

Flexor's appeal is a strong reminder for CW to develop beyond bread and butter ...
I hope, after the storm, some new state of mind will emerge !
CW stuff are " just " very good, third parties are also very good and ... innovative ...
And third parties work on CW cards ...

It's time to promote the *whole* platform or next time it may be lethal !!!!!!!

The allocation in Noah is flexible somehow, as, for example, in multimode you can decide how many slots are used for a device. in EX version (4 slots), if you load a device in 1st slot and another one in 3rd slot, the first device will use 2 slots and have doubled polyphony.

I wouldn't exclude totally the possibility to have Modular in Noah in the future. The biggest issue is not so much the polyphony as dsp requirements, but the obvious limit in reaching all possible variations of controls available in a modular from the hardware knobs and menus.

Something that tickled my fantasy is the Modular III 16 knob panel. Noah uses 4 knobs to access directly 16 parameters (4 rows of 4). I can't avoid to think that this Modular III feature has something to do with the way hardware knobs are organized in Noah.

Of course something must be added in the software, it could be a wrapper that loads patches made in SFP or in Noah remote software, with the possibility to have 16 parameters accessible by standalone hardware.

Reduced flexibility is not a hardware dsp limit, but the software that has to rule a stage conceived machine must be faster and simpler, removing choices and standardizing options means removing operational stages and shorten times. Nothing says that remote software can't be expanded to new features.

If somethings could be done in (a future)remote software only, like making modular patches and/or making presets with access on any modular part, it would be enough to have then 16 parameters to use live.

We have many elements to say that CW is a very nice company, that surely puts much love and passion in their products.

If you make a comparison of the pulsar software 1.1 (the first I had) with the SFP, you'll see how many userbase desires and suggestions have been taken in account.

Why shouldn't Noah software have revolutionary improvements as well? At the end is just a bunch of sharcs like the cards....

Software development:

The first 90% of the work in 10% of the time and the last 10% of the work in 90% of the time.

Finishing a project off can be very difficult and usually drags on & on...a bit like having all your teeth broken by a tiny silver hammer.

Yesterday, we celebrated the first anniversary of the project I am currently working on...this was supposed to run for one month, originally! Whoops...

So, be patient, folks!
