Creamware "Special Offers"
While it is true that the offers save you 50% you still have to pay 555.00 EUR. It's nice to see a great value but I think CW is forgetting us poor people. How about as an experiment in which CW offers just one device at half price. They could get a large volume of customers and make money. That is my 2 cents!

the question is:
should everything, regardless of quality be cheap and available to everyone?
would ferrari consider poor people and lower their testarossa line to say, 500 bucks?
of course not.
cw makes quality items that just won't go under a certain price.
would they really be in business for more than a year if their prices were to attract "poor people"?
no offense braincell but it just doesn't make sense.

i am my own point of view regarding this matter...
consider a CW plugin that costs 100$ in the online shop and they sell about 5 of them in a month (i hope they are more! but just for an example...)
consider if the same plugin is sold at 50$ for a month (like this month's special offer).
if they sell 15 plugins they will make a deal. in that month they sell the plugin to the 5 "usual" people plus to another 10 people who, perhaps, would never buy the plugin if it costs 100$. since plugins don't have "production costs", they have earned 250$ more from this special offer. and more people will be conscious about CW plugin quality, so they maybe adress other people to CW hardware/plugins.
we can then discuss about the following fact: in the following months will 5 people per month buy the plugin at the original price of 100? will a lot of people wait for another deal and stop buy plugin? this can be the real question...

I agree with Siberiansun - it wouldn't work.
If in doubt ask Stephen Hummel (Wavelenght) how many device he sold when he reduced the prices to $20 each.
Even more im(de)pressing because the handling of the deal via ShareIt was totally simple and without additional costs for foreign customers.
Just look around on the streets. It's brands that sell, expensive brands.
Makes people feel good about themselves.
Any buying decision is finally an emotional process, but rarely pure rational.
I've been in sales staff for some time and that's one of the basics - it works...
cheers, Tom

My soul would opt for bosone's point of view but my brain says Astroman is right and his explanation is rational. Polish software developers - PSP once did special prices for our citizens (I've read it in an interview). They lowered the prices to 30% or even less of original prices with no sales improvement (literaly they sold 3 or 5 plugins more!!!!!). That's the story. Another one is - there is a vodka called Belvedere or something and it's exported to USA. The sales rised up after... the prices went UP! If the price for a quality goods is low you become suspicious - 'they plan to release a new model or an update or so' - if the price is good estimated then the customer knows what he pays for and has got more respect for it.

I am at the sime side of the barricade but this example isn't good. To make a Ferrari you have to use more power, material, qualified staff - and each 'copy' is material, too while a piece of software is also human creativity (which is important) but a copy of software doesn't cost a thing (or at least a 0.00000001% of manufacturer's harddiskOn 2003-09-05 04:52, siberiansun wrote:

if they would start lowering the price of one device every month or two, only one would buy the product at the normal price. the rest would wait. don't you think 'wow, now is the time...', of course you do
if the deal is not 'special' anymore, so will be the attention in the long run.
the less fortunate mortals that have to work and save for a device (like myself) needs this feeling he's doing an exceptional deal, so lowering the price permanently seems not a good idea as well. 160€ is still a lot of money to me, i would still need it very badly.
just another opinion.
now, the propack, that was a good deal

Maybe I'm a good example of a typical Creamware customer. I haven't bought anything from them in years because I have a lot of devices and hardware already and don't need more. There are a number of new devices I would love to have and surely would buy them if they were about 50% cheaper, but I don't need the entire bundle.
The bundle is like cable tv. You have a few stations you watch but you have to pay for hundreds of other stations that you would never ever watch. They keep adding crappy channels such as the fishing channel and the sewing channel and then they jack the price up because their "costs have gone up". Of course the costs and it was planned that way.
