Greetings all,
I was just screwin around with the ProOne demo as I am an old school analog synth phreak if you will, I own some very much loved classics such as the, TB 303, SH101, Alpha2, 106, JX3P, Moog Source and more so I just had to see how this synth paled in comparison to my much loved emulation Pro53.
I had always thought some of the native stuff really stood out as great sounding, fat virtual analog but as I start to listen more closely at the subtle differences between Scope Synths and Natives, there is quite a difference that starts to grow on you.
So I loaded a typical Trance lead in ProOne then found a matching Patch in Pro53, I created a very basic Trance syle syth part and made 2 bars of it, the 1st bar plays the ProOne, the 2nd Bar plays the Pro53, these were done some in the middle C range, recorded to time, one version dry the other with stock patch effects.
The 2nd part was done playing a single note moving down the scale again very basic 3 note pattern, same as above 1st is ProOne 2nd is Pro53 and again dry then wet.
With chords around middle C, the synths sound pretty close with the ProOne coming out on top, it just has a fatter more true to analog sound compared to the Pro53, but the real difference is in the 2nd test, the ProOne stays true to sound as you move the scale, unfortunately this is when the native synth dies a horrible death and the sound just turns to buzzing trash =/
I have sound bytes I wanna post incase any one is interested in the comparison as these 2 synths just happen to have an almost identical trance lead patch. I just need to find some web space to post these 2..
But, now my problem is I need to shell out for the ProOne and I am scared the Pro53 Is going to get put away on the ole dustbin once I get the licence for ProOne =)
I will post the sound bytes asap as soon as I get a hoste worked out to link too..
Cheers!
Well I just conducted an A/B between ProOne & NI's Pro53...

good job on the comparison.
What this supports in my mind is one of the things that separates CW synths from native:
Aliasing
I can hear it quite distinctly on the Pro-53 patches. Whereas the Pro-One patches exhibit much less of this characteristic.
Also, I just prefer the sound of CW over a lot of Native synths.
Thanks for the post
