Hi there,

Sorry for the intrusion but I have a rather specific question:

Anyone familiar with Jean-Michel Jarre's album Chronologie? The overture of Chronologie 1 has a lead string which was created on the Jupiter. I'm really in love with that sound. Since the Saturn is a good replica of the Jupiter, I've been working on creating a patch in order to approach the original Jupiter string sound as closely as possible. So far to no avail...

Anyone outhere that can help me? Maybe somebody already has this patch? Please come forward... B). TIA for your help/cooperation.
CU,

John.

Perhaps you could post a short MP3 snippet in case we aren't familiar...? I have a bunch of nice pads for the Saturn, but some of those UKNOW007 patches (the pads particularly) in the UKNOW device (Devices Area) on PlanetZ are pretty nice...

Thanx 4 the offering, I'll create an excerpt on MP3 (copyright laws allow only one minute but that will do)... where shall I put it? On my personal homepage (see below)? Or can I upload it to the Pulsar site? John C.?

We're still waiting for your short MP3. Post it anywhere, just enough so we can get a glimpse of what it is you're after. I'm up for a Saturn Challenge!

hey! sorry i didn't notice your question to me before! i think it'd be better to upload it to your own site and post a link here in this thread. since it's copyrighted and non-pulsar related, it doesn't make that much sense to host it here.

cheers,

Hi,

About this copyright thing: John, you're absolutely right! I'll make some diskspace available on my website.
Tonight I have some time available so will put it online then...

Are you sure it is a Jupiter 8 ?
I think it sounds like a newer S+S synth.
I ccould be wrong and i'm sure going to give it try. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi,

Jupiter 8: well, according to well informed sources, the Jupiter is used. However, I have discovered that a great number of sounds on Chronologie 1 come from the JD-800. If it's deffo not the Jupiter, I'll have to check out all the JD-800 sounds (yup I own that one as well). Back in 1994 I was looking for the sound for a JMJ coverband concert, I wasn't capable of creating the sound on the JD though... that time we had to use a passable, but not close enough, sound from the SY-99.
Right now I want to recreate the song, which still can give me the goosebumps...

BTW: are you a Jarre fan as well?

Hi all,

This is a rather late update, but better late than never.

Recently it came to my knowledge that the Chronologie part 1 sound has been produced by an Eminent 310 DeLuxe organ (with some FX). That should be pretty obvious to me as the Eminent indeed can produce that distictive "rattle" in the sawtooth strings.
