if you were thinking of getting the GA7NNXP board this could be usefull..

This is a Temporary page,
For temporary Solutions ,
For Hopefully Temporary Problems..
For two GREAT AMD Nforce2 Motherboards.
I Came across a "BUG" in GA-7N400 Pro/7NNXP
It Concerns the ITE Raid Chip ,
When Used With Any Pro Audio Card ,For recording ,
The ITE CHIP will send Horrible Repeating Clicks every second or so while WRITING TO THE DRIVE ..
The clicks are sent to ALL THE DEVICES ON THE PCI BUS,
& Repeat every second or so WHILE THE DRIVE IS WRITING.
The Clicks DO NOT APPEAR when used with the
STANDARD IDE Channels of the Nforce2 .
The Phenomena is Not a new one.
I have Seen it Before on Other Controllers That are programmed
Or implemented in Such a Way that they Simply Hog The PCI Bus,
Leaving very little breathing room left for other devices..
NO One Noticed it ....YET
This was the ONE board That COULD HAVE MADE it
To Being a Great Workstation Nforce2 based MB,
As All others don't have PATA raid .
TO PRO AUDIO GUYS / MUSICIANS:
(pro Video cards should be tested as its very likely a problem with video as well)
If you own a Pro Audio card (Motu ,Rme ,Aardvark ,or any other Pro Card With ASIO Support)
HERES HOW TO TEST:
You Will Need To Record at least 2 Tracks-(A Dual mono Or STEREO Track is OK) & ONLY in WAV Format.
PREFERABLY 24Bit WAV Or Even 32 Bit WAV Files ,if you have ANY PRO(ish) Audio Software. If you don't Just Dl a Demo of one.
If You Only Own An Audigy/Audigy2
you Can Try ,& Might even get very little or no clicks, Because Im Not sure Your Audigy can Saturate The PCI Bus Like a Pro Card.
Also Make Sure The Software uses The path to a Drive on the iTE For all its storage options ,Both Audio & Temp Files.
I know The Audigy Has ASIO Drivers (Lower Latency & higher Performing Drivers Pioneered By a Company Called Steinberg-Steinberg.Net)
So you'll need to try it with Something like Steinbergs Cubase SX Software ,& The ASIO Drivers in a Latency of about 5-10 Milliseconds,in order To get Some Action going on the PCI Bus.
Without a Big Enough Hit on The PCI Bus ,your mileage may vary.
As Gigabyte & ITE Both failed to provide a solution
I Decided to supply a Temporary Solution for people who need it.
