You won't be able to install any creamware card in the pci-x slots, they are a totally different architecture (64bits I guess).

Installing SCSI drives won't improve your soundquality it will only slightly improve your datatransfer and thus your track count.

There is a guy who states sound quality is better on Macs than on PCs. The worst is he's a kinda opinionleader here

What was the first: a hen or an egg?

PCI-X is completely backwards compatible with legacy PCI. Apple is using it in the new G5. You should be able to install CW cards in a PCI-X slot. PCI Express, on the other hand, is a new architecture and is not backwards compatible.

Huh... SCSI sounds better? Huh... I think that guy need to go out and buy Computer Basics For Dummies...

now MAC sounds better? MAC looks better IMHO, but if there's any reason for the MAC to sound better with the pulsar. It has to do with the driver... Which IMHO, is possible (from a Computer Software Engneer's point of view), but unlikly for people to notice even if they are different.

Now if they sound differet, which one sounds better? It's a rather subjective thing...

PCI-X is fully backwards compatible.

I have 2 scsi drives, and they sound like a couple of little 747s taking off

I got 'em 5 years ago for safe multitracking, but these days in audio there isn't the need - 7,200rpm should do.

10k rpm (scsi) is reliable and fast, but loud!

wayne, this is the main reason to place PC in separate room
most of the sound engineers i know did this way and are free of such problems when buying new hardware

You CANNOT install Creamwre cards on PCI-X slots. PCI-X is fully backwards compatible with the 3.3v (volt) PCI (PCI-33) standard and Creamware cards are 5v (5 volt).
