Can I get more than 128 steps of automation?

A place to talk about whatever Scope music/gear related stuff you want.

I am very new to MIDI, and I have tried to automate SFP a bit from Samplitude. Is there any way, that I can get more than 128 (0-127) steps of resolution? It just is not enough in many situations. If this is not possible with Samplitude, will it be possible with another program?

Immanuel, I wouldn't bother about the 'original' automation steps recorded. The programs usually use sophisticated interpolations which result in very smooth effective movements
There's certainly a setup in Samplitude how those 'dots' are interconnected. Cubic, polynominal and spline are terms often used in that context.

cheers, Tom

Also just fyi, Logic audio with a logic control will use (14? or) 16bits of automation directly from the Logic controller, and of course there are curves there as well etc.

Something they touted as a benefit for a while...

Tom is indeed correct however that most properly made devices should be able to use the regular 7-bit midi data and 'interpolate' to 'smooth' the zipper noise associated with 128 'steps'. My virus, for instance, does this as well...
