just for curiosity, since i'm still a cakewalk9 user... but when i'll change my PC i'll probably go for sonar...
will sonar 2.2. work fine with ASIO drivers and win98SE? i don't want to change to winXP, basically because i own gigasampler, which don't work under winXP and don't need to spend money on gigastudio...

Yeah, Sonar works fine with ASIO in Win98, but Win98 is such a crap OS (if you can call it an OS) that you'll benefit greatly from upgrading to XP. Don't be fooled by thinking that XP is a "bloated" OS and bad for audio -- most reports say that you can actually get faster audio results in XP than Win98. GigaStudio isn't that much money, and the upgrade to XP is well worth it!

sorry Shayne, I have to disagree here:
the two OSes have nothing in common, so it's a new product choice, not an upgrade.
There's no continuity path provided.

Gigasampler is a very resource effective app and while I agree that there's really nothing sophisticated in Win98, it runs if set up properly for recording tasks (to keep USB away as much as possible seems to help a lot).
The better results under XP are imho due to improved hardware drivers and chipset tuning and not because the low level part of the OS is better coded.
The OS costs, Gigastdio costs, there's that funky registration at M$ - I wouldn't switch without an unavoidable reason.

just my 2 cents as a 2nd opinion, Tom
