What configuration?
I have that Asus board and can run 9 Masterverbs before I get
"Capacity limit of your DSP cards has been reached. The specific cause is Not enough DSP memory: cannot connect..."
No idea of PCI problems.
Here is my config:

EDIT: The amount of MV's seems to depend... Now I have 24 ASIO 2 tracks with STM 2448 and I can put only 7 MV's before I get the very same error. In addition, I have PSY Q, GRAPH EQ and OptiMaster on board.

that's pretty respectable.if you render your virtual tracks to audio and mix in xtc mode using sfp AND native plugs, you will find that you have an audio production dream machine.you should be able to do productions that sound like they came out of million dollar studios.you will be able to use all of your dsps if you only use a couple of masterverbs(7 reverbs, especially seven of the SAME reverbs is quite excessive...)
Are you trying push pressure on me...
Well, I don't hav mics and acoustics of million dollar studios. (yes, I had 20 tracks of wavs, not virtual tracks)
Why I should mix using XTC?
I don't know about the dream machine.. SFP seems to crash pretty easily... I'm not very confident right now with the system though.
But at least I don't have the PCI errors I had with VIA :lol

Yes, I have deluxe model.
I have APIC enabled and thus Scope is at IRQ 18. It is in third slot.
Yes, I have Win XP + SP1 and have tweaked it to the extremes
I have disabled from bios everything but USB 1.1 (only USB 1.1). No serial ports, no parallel ports, no floppy(!!)
If you want to know any particular setting or want me to do any test, just ask.

peace.sfp has been pretty reliable for me...xtc mode sounds a LOT better but it's less flexible.it's nice to have the sfp plugs function in your sequencer natively.routing is too much trouble for tracking though.....
if you are mixing wavs, then xtc is very nice.i like to mix to dat(digtally!)WITHOUT that resource hog optimaster and then send the signal back to the computer in sfp mode to my mastering prog THRU optimaster.this seems to give me the resources i need to do a fairly complex mix.

Ok...
a7n8x-l (not deluxe)tested!!
but only with a lunaIIEX (3dsp)
win XP pro SP1 + sfp 3.1c
ACPI mode enable and all the peripherical are activated (lan, usb, ...)
I can load now 4 masterverbs (full dsp).
No PCI limit problems at all.
It's a great board. very stable.
I'm coonsidering an overclocked system actually.

I don't particularly like WinXP even tho I know that this is the windows OS of choice in this group. somehow it seems to suck up more resources than win2000. I find Win2000 more stable as well. Is there a technical reason why WinXP is more prevalent for CW users? On 2003-02-26 09:02, spoimala wrote:
Testing? I'm not testing anymore but using succesfullyOkay, I haven't done very heavy multitracking yet, but seems to work...at least a lot better than my old Abit kt7a (with via133)
I use WinXP though.
When you configure it properly - tweak for audio - it doesn't take that much.I don't particularly like WinXP even tho I know that this is the windows OS of choice in this group. somehow it seems to suck up more resources than win2000.
When you've found the proper config (only needed devices connected and enabled, soundcard in proper PCI-slot, no irq problems etc) XP is very stable.I find Win2000 more stable as well. Is there a technical reason why WinXP is more prevalent for CW users?
I personally don't know if there any other clear advantages using XP. Search this forum, there's lots of talk.
