Fostex VM04 digital mixer - Is it any good?

I have found one of these pretty cheap.
I need it as a preamp for my microphone (Rode NT3), my bass, my Wurlitzer and my Roland D-20 and maybe monitoring.
Does anyone have any experience with it? Is it worth 65 $?

hi,

it's only spdif, not adat, so you'd sacrifice the channel separation, but it's worth the $65. Some shop here tries to sell one 'reduced' for $160

Thanks Astroman - I have heard that it has a lot of backgroundnoise, is that your experience too?

electronics are ALWAYS noisy,especially cheap stuff...i'm sure it's reasonably usable.
