Well I tried posting to the pulsar-scope mailing list yesterday but being impatient I am trying here also!

I purchased a second hand Powersampler 1 and re-registered it on the Creamware website.

I also purchased SFP v3.1a, installed it and updated to v3.1c - the SFP v3.1b CD-ROM arrived from my dealer this morning FOC!

I already have the latest ASPI from Adaptec installed v4.71a2 - this is used by Chicken Systems Translator which does read the Akai CD-ROM - but I reinstalled anyway despite ASPICheck telling me everything was OK.

I am unable to read the Ultimate Sample Collection that came with the PS1 :???:

I note in the Support.pdf that Creamware list a known problem on some systems in reading Akai formatted CD-ROMS especially on SCSI CD-ROM drives (which I have).
They also mention strange characters are displayed (which I don't have).
Nothing is displayed in the file browser on my system despite my setting the All filter.

Does anyone know a fix for this yet please? I am unable to load any Akai samples from CD until this issue is resolved.

This happens with both W2K and WXP

My system;

Abit TH7-II RAID
Intel Pentium IV 2.2GHz
Samsung 1GB RDRAM
Adaptec 29160
Plextor PX-40TS
Plextor PX-W8220T
Pioneer DVR103
Quantum Atlas 10K-II 9.2GB
Quantum Atlas 10K-III 18,4GB
Quantum Atlas 10K-II 36.7GB
2 x Maxtor D740X 60GB attached to onboard Highpoint HPT370 IDE RAID 0
Sony SDT10000 DAT
Matrox G400 MAX
Netgear FA-310TX NIC
Yamaha SW1000XG c/w PLG-100DX
Canopus DVStorm c/w Storm Encoder
Creamware PowerSampler 1

Thank you in advance for your help.

Kind regards,
-=Glyn=-

have you tried via the DVD or CD writer ?
maybe the scsi-writer 'hides' the scsi-cdrom.

good luck, Tom

Strange! My PX-40TS could read all AKAI CDs (it's built in my older computer). With win95 and a Pulsar version 1.x or 2.x it was no problem - without any ASPI.
But now I have had the same problem, but I could solve it with ASPI 4.72. My current computer has no SCSI, but win98se, it couldn't read AKAI, but now it works.
Are you sure you wrote the right parameters after install.bat? But I'm afraid I can't help you more, cos I don't use win2k or xp. But in this great forum we have some experts for your problem ... Don't worry.

Thanks for the reply guys.

Astroman: I tried both Plextor drives - the Akai CD-ROM could not be seen. The Pioneer DVD drive would not even recognise the Akai formatted CD-ROM as the light on the drive just kept flashing continually.

Herr Voigt: Glad you got your problem sorted by using the Adaptec ASPI layer - it didn't work here but...

After trawling through hundreds of posts here I saw reference to a different revision of Akai.dll from Creamware.

I downloaded and installed this but no change - until after a reboot and now I can see the Akai CD-ROM!

Why do Creamware not only not mention this file anywhere? :???:

Worse still why is it virtually hidden on their website?

I had the same problem looking for the updated 2K/XP WDM driver...

For any more poor, unfortunate souls who have the same problem here are the links to the files;

ftp://ftp.creamware.de/software/manuals ... s/akai.dll

http://shop.creamware.de/shop2000/de/sh ... enDocument

Thanks & regards,
-=Glyn=-

Since I use the STS not too much, I just tried for curiosity and guess what ?
