Cakewalk® Announces Support for Digidesign Hardware
Cakewalk, developer of the world's best-selling music and sound software for Windows, has announced that the company's flagship SONAR digital multitrack recording software will support Digidesign's HD, MIX, Pro Tools|24, Digi 001, Digi 002, MBox and AudioMedia III audio hardware using Digidesign's new ASIO hardware drivers. Cakewalk plans to support Digidesign and other ASIO-compatible audio hardware by January 2003. The most recent SONAR 2.1 update (released this Fall) includes OMFI and Broadcast Wave (BWF) support, providing sample-accurate import and export of OMF and Broadcast WAV audio files and sequences directly into SONAR projects without launching a separate application -providing cross-platform compatibility with OMF host applications such as Pro Tools, Avid and other OMFI-compatible systems. Registered SONAR 2.x customers will be able to download the update for Digidesign's ASIO driver support for free, directly from the Cakewalk website (http://www.cakewalk.com), scheduled for release in January 2003.

I found this info on another site, and thought that some of you might find it interesting:

It's about time. I have been bugging Cakewalk for a while now to adopt ASIO. That way you have the best of both worlds -you can use whichever driver your card works best with. This is a big step for Cakewalk. I am glad they have finally decided to do it.

Yes, Sonar just might be worth trying out for a Creamware-owner now.

well it looks cool but..

they do not mention support for anything other then Digi's ASIO....

So until it's said it will work with all ASIO cards don't get your hopes up....

Are you sure!? : (from the text above, found on DigiDesigns homepage):

"Cakewalk plans to support Digidesign and other ASIO-compatible audio hardware by January 2003"

Looks to me that it's gonna happen.

Digidesign's page? Where did you find that? The only blurb I've seen was on Cakewalk, and they only mentioned Digidesign compatibility.

Go to Didgesigns homepage:

http://www.digidesign.com/

and do a search for cakewalk, then the top hit will lead you to the statement above.

Or click on "developers", then "Developers News" and then you'll see it as the third topic.

It doesn't matter what anyone says, Cakewalk are the ones who have to say they will support other hardware.

And they have not done that yet

what I don't understand is that only on the digi press release it says anything about other hardware...

You would think Cakewalk would have had that line in there release aswell...

so don't read into it too much....yet

I agree...so in case Sonar proves to have only Digidesign support, please sign my ASIO/Sonar petition at: http://www.petitiononline.com/asiosn20/petition.html

Thank you!
