Hi,
I am new to this forum and new Pulsar 2 owner and I think I am wery happy whit this audio card. I don't know, but I think I am happy. I have buy Pulsar two weeks ago and I think have nice mixers, synths, and realy good virtual studio with Scope fusion and XTC mode. I need help to find what is the best choice for my home studio.
I have allready:
1. Pulsar 2 PLUS
2. Rode NTK for vocals
3. Focusrite VoiceMaster Pro preamp
My questions are:
1. I need some external controler but I have good price for Behringer DDX3216 digital mixer so I think it is better solution than midi controler for that money because more I/O, preamp's, and control for my Pulsar mixer. What do You think about that solution. How good is controling CW mixer from DDX3216 via MIDI. Anybody have DDX3216?
2. Is it good idea to connect analog balanced XLR out from Focusrite VoiceMaster Pro to analog balanced Pulsar 2 input, or maybe A/D S/PDIF Focusrite option to AES/EBU Pulsar input? Or meybe Focusrite like insert into DDX3216 and digital ADAT out to Pulsar? (I am beginner and I am planyng to record vocals or external synth for MAX 4 channels of analog input)
3. Is the Behringer A/D converter better than Pulsar 2?
4. What is the best way to create my home setup with Behringer?
5. What is the best option for external mixer around 1500 US$

hi stelibo and welcome !

the Behringer 3216 might fit nice with Pulsar if equipped with the ADT1616 16-ch-adat expansion. Just route 16 channels from Pulsar via adat-out to the 3216 and back from the mixer via adat-in as a replacement of your current onscreen-mixer.
Then you don't need to automate the screen thing.
Dunno if that fits your needs of channels and routing, but it may be worth considering.
I'm very happy with a similiar setup, where channels with a lot of 'action' are on an external mixer (by adat connectors) and those with more or less fixed settings are on submixers on the screen.
Also nice for A/B compares: I just send them to parallel channels on the external mixer, adjust faders and use real-world mute buttons with LEDs

cheers, Tom

Hi Tom and thanks to Your replay
I have another question.
If my sequencer is Cubase 5 or SX, do I need control CW mixer with external mixer, or Cubase mixer only, or maybe both??

Any Upgrades for another 16 ADAT channels for Pulsar 2 plus? So I think it is the better choice to use 32 ddx3216 channels than 16 only?

hi stelibo,

I mentioned that setup, because I found it more or less accidently.
Just bought the mixer for additional IOs. But it's much more useful (for me) in this configuration where it's splitted between some computer stuff AND external audio.
The 16 channels are just the 'communication' channels between the 2 devices. You can of course use all channels of the Behringer and do submixes on both sides.
You may try out this application and if you want to extend the number of channels there's a very simple addition of Adat-IOs: buy a second card
If you stick with Pulsar you'll always want just more DSPs because it sounds so good
Seriously, that's no kidding - you start and can't stop it
Since I don't use Cubase I know only the most basic stuff, so I'd better pass this on.

cheers, Tom
