I'm looking for a good gated reverb that I can use for
my snare drums, and wonder if there are some good
presets that can be downloaded for the masterverb ?
(so far, I've only found classical reverb like hall, room
etc, but no gated reverb).
Or is there some freeware reverb effect that can
generate a good gated reverb ?
(btw, I'm using a pulsar2 with SFP 3.1b)
Gated reverb with masterverb?

can you give us some sort of reference sound you're trying to achieve?
Gated reverb for snares... I can understand this in 2 ways. Either you really want to feed the snare through the reverb, but chop off the tail with a gate.. Or you want a early reflections type of effect, where the snare gains a sort of delayed "duration" of a sort, if you get what I mean.
Here's an example:
http://www.iface.ne.jp/~ken/reverb.mp3
If this is somewhat along what you're looking for, then it's the reverb+gate combo. In this case, though, the combo is reverb+limiter+gate. Just so that the burst is more audible.
http://www.iface.ne.jp/~ken/er.mp3
If this is what you want, then you use the E-Reflector module, and set the reflections to invert, and also turn up the Decay knob. The Spread parameter changes the "length" of the zzippp.
But who knows, maybe you're looking for something else.

Thanks for all recommendations!
Ken, I think that your sample reverb.mp3 comes quite close to
the result that I'm looking for. I'm trying to get a reverb
that gives much reverb effect for a very short while (a effect that
is useful for short/fast voices like bass voices, kickdrum, snaredrum etc).
Here is a example that shows a snaredrum that I would like to
have (taken from Laserdance tune "Powerrun"):
http://w1.901.telia.com/~u90109693/powerrun.mp3
(the file size is 940kb)
I've found a gated reverb in CubaseVST5.1 that sounds acceptable
(but definitely not perfect!), in the VST effect Wunderverb3.
Although, I would like to generate the reverb with my Pulsar2
instead as the Linn samples I use are played with my STS3000.

You can also try the Neutron Timegate device. It's an envelope-controlled dynamics processor that gates an insert effect by the incoming dry signal. It's really awesome. http://www.neutron7.com

Thanks Shayne for the tip!
Although I hope I will be able to get that perfect
snare sound with just using one effect device (to
save some DSP power, as I'm using the pulsar2 card
for some softsynths also). The masterverb uses quite
some DSP power, so the best solution would be to find
another reverb that uses less DSP and that is also
able to get the reverb effect that I'm looking for
(as can be heard in the mp3-sample above).
