Hi John,

Been experiencing a very good connection, since you moved the files. Probably that bug correction will speed things even further up.
Just in time for the November Contest :)

Cheers!

Yesterday's problems were totally different from the slow-site issues we had before.

The entire webhost was down (even their own website was in trouble). Following is their response to my cries for help.

------------------
Subject: OUTAGE
Approx. 0900hrs - Noticed packets out of sequence
Approx. 1000hrs - began trace
Approx. 1100hrs - Notified Administration of possible network congestion
Approx. 1130hrs - Extreme latency introduced into network
Approx. 1200hrs - Network down Emergency
Approx. 1300hrs - Emergency staffing meeting
Approx. 1330hrs - Emergency staffing meeting concludes and Representatives try to
answer concerned clients.
Approx. 1400hrs - Called Cisco Systems TAC center for P1 case
Approx. 1410hrs - Dispatched Diagnostic equipment on to network
Approx. 1600hrs - Located possible causes
Approx. 1630hrs - Began Replacement of suspected causes
Approx. 1800hrs - Still trying to resume network operations
Approx. 2000hrs - Located a Line Card and Possible laser fault in our 10G backbone to ouGSR Core
Approx. 2100hrs - Cisco Systems locating parts to air ship
Approx. 2400hrs - Parts arrive via private courier
Approx. 2430hrs - Network Operations Resume Normal OUT
Remaining hours close intrusive testing and monitoring.
This is not covered by our UPTIME GUARANTEE due to faulty workmanship in equipment (act of god)

------------------
Amusing to note the very last sentence (this is not covered by their 99.9% uptime guarantee. Apparently god broke the routers...)

Anyway, looks like they fixed it, and planetz is snappy again.

I'm still seeing some problems. A couple of hours ago I couldn't post a response to a message.

Yeah, the same here - sometimes after typing 'www.planetz.com and so on you got an reeor message saying you can't connect to that site and after clicking on refresh button everything went ok. strange.

Yeah, it's happening to me too. This is the first time I've been able to get thru in the last hour.

I've been unable to retrieve my email too. Frustrating!! I entered another problem report in their help system, we'll see what happens.

They must still be having problems. Maybe all their warranties on their Cisco stuff just expired??

One of the reasons I chose this webhost was their reliability and speed. See here:
http://www.featureprice.com/?c=11&p=1

Frustrating that they seem to have had a bunch of problems since I moved planetz to them.

99.9% uptime is 99.85 -> 99.4999... Atleast, where I come from That gives them a maximum of 13 hours off-time a year. Just for the record.

Except it looks like they're considering any hardware failures to be exempt from the rule. See where they say:

"This is not covered by our UPTIME GUARANTEE due to faulty workmanship in equipment (act of god"

Urg..

In any case, the site seems to be running snappy again.

I’m just back, didn’t have a connection for a couple of weeks. Right now everything seems to be running ok.
Thanks John

I still sometimes have to stop my browser, because it passes a minute without anything comming in. Second try works most of the time though.
