This is probably a geky sort of question but I'm never scared of embarrasing myself.
Is there any software on the market that can take wave files and convert them to samples?
Now I know that the answer is "Yes" but:
1. I read a recent thread on this. I loaded a wave file into Recycle II. I exported it as a soundfont file and loaded it into the STS 2000 Player. Okay it works, but I have to adjust the STS 2000P up 2 octaves and I don't have control of the ADSR - for instance the attacke of the note.
2. Again using Recycle I exported it as an Akai sample but this is only compatible with the Akai 5000/6000 series I believe.
3. The old Sample Player and Sample Player F are not happy with these formats either.

So basically what I want is something that can convert a wave file and be used in the sample player F (which gives me control of the ADSR. I'm not after something that generates superb samples, simply a means of having the wave files playable and tuned perhaps over 1 octave, thus saving me lots of work in pitch shifting wave files etc.

Any helpers?

I think there was a utility available here on planetZ called STS Creator.. Create a simple program out of any sample... Also had a batch mode for goingn thru a complete directory.

Thanks for the rapid responses guys.
Downloaded and I'll test it later.
I'm just relieved that it wasn't such a stupid question after all

It works fine thanks to you both. That really helps to do a large percentage of what I was looking to do, by converting them for the STS 2000P.
Now, if only I could get them into the old Sample Player and Sample Player F.... so this thread remains open if anyone can help
Thanks again.

Thanks for yet another reply - I tried it in a hurry and didn't have time to check the old players.
With an embarassed expression on my face I shall switch on the music computer!
Thanks - I'll let you know
