I have found a used Pulsar II SRB-card. The price he is asking is 520€. But if it comes without software I'm not sure I want to buy it....

Cheers!

An SRB -unless mentioned otherwise- comes without software. An SRB does have a serial number, so it may come w keys for some devices, like in Creamware's last summer action.

There's no I/O's either on an SRB. You could build over (from a smaller card) or buy I/O's extra if you want.

Thanks for answering so quick

Yeah I thought so - damn!

I have an Elektra card and I really need more DSP-power, this card seemed cheap, and is unregistered, but I would like to get my hands on both effects-packages and both synth-packages.

Hmm... I think I'll try to see how low he's ready to go.

Cheers!

Atomic, are you sure there is no SW with a SRB card ?

I cannot find any specific data on this, but I have a Pulsar I and a Pulsar II SRB, and 2 sw-CD's, 1.31 and 2.0, the latter was as far as my tiny brain recalls included when I got my SRB.

Things might have changed since tho...

Even if there is no SW included, you just might be able to download 3.1c and fire it up ???

Petal, tell you what : If you decide to go for it and you can't get it to work because of lacking SW, give me a ring, eh ?

Cheers

Usually, an SRB comes without I/O's or software. A Sonic Rocket Booster is only a DSP expansion board. When I got my SRB, it came w a promotional Optimaster.

If there's no keys for the card, like for most SRB's, you cannot download SFP and install it, cos there's no basic key for SFP. An SRB is an expansion board, it supposes you already have a card w software.

Yeah, once I had a Pulsar 1 SRB and it came with no software.

Petal - is the card SRB or XTC? If the second - you would get some XTC stuff like synths, Volkszaempler etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the XTC software is free for SRB users.

What's actually the difference between pulsar SRB and pulsar XTC?

I know XTC comes with 50 effects and so but they both cost the same. in sweden at least.

I wrote the guy and asked him there were any SW coming with the card, and he said no. We're are talking 6 plain DSP, but he did say that it was unregistered, so maybe there's some SW available for the card which he just doesn't know about, allthough he did sound pretty confident

Well Stubbe I told him that I could only afford to pay him half of what he asked for the card, but he wouldn't sell it at that price..... yet

Cheers!

I think € 520,- is a very nice price for a Pulsar II SRB, even without software. Last year I bought mine for around € 795,-.

Yes I know it isn't an unfair price - but I'm a poor student, and I simply can't afford to pay more than half the price, actually I can't even pay that, but I know, that if he were willing to sell to that price (half that is) I would have to buy it, no matter what.

Thanks for the tip Petal, picked up the card yesterday, installed it, registered it and all is well ... apart from some PCI-IRQ stuff and higher temperature inside my PC
