i like to use winamp and i did in win98. my cd roms are verry "sensitive" and i had "refreshing probs" with them in the earlyer versions of cw's software.
few months ago i tried to instal winamp in xp and then i found that my cd roms wont work properly again. i solve problem with full system reinstalation.
now i'm not sure that winamp was source of problem because it's possible that i did some other mistake.
but now i'm suspisious and afraid to instal winamp again
is it possible that winamp can make that kind of problems with cd's??
uf, i want to use a winamp again. specialy because of 24bit playback what still isn't possible with multy media player (if i'm right).

Do you have any CDs, with 24bit resolution?

So why do you want 24bit resolution for playing back CDs?

I doubt it's Winamp causing the troubles.... but I'm talking about the the 2.8x version (don't know about Winamp 3 but I see no reason to install the memory-eating v3 instead of proven 2.8x)
Of course there are no 24-bit audio CD's but Winamp plays 24-bit .WAV-files without any problem through the Creamware 24-bit wave-device. Makes winamp very handy to browse through recordings  I believe Windows Media Player only does 16-but (of course! hehehe)

yes, it was 2.8!
i also found that winamp have some little distortion on few first milliseconds of wav and some strange feadback on the end - no metter 16 or 24bit?
wm player is much cleaner for me, but it's impossible to use for browseing 24bit samples :???:

I checked the MediaPLayer 9.x release notes, doesn't say anything 'bout 24bit wav's either.
