About selling a Pulsar II with audio problems

Hello everyone.

I'm talking about a Pulsar II, like this one with SCOPE V 7:



It is not mine, it is in Brazil, it belongs to a friend of mine.

Everything works fine, except that it generates a strange sibilant noise when using its audio inputs. I cannot explain what it is fortunately, audio works, but if you rise the level it stars making this weird noise.

My friend does not speak English, only Spanish, he is actually Spanish. So I'm asking this for him here. He wants to know how much he could ask for it in such condition. I told him to sell it in Brazil, no internationally.

How much should he ask or should he try to fix it somehow?
I don't know, any advice appreciated.

Occasionally the precision regulator LM1085 IS-3.3 fails (the 3 pin item on the bottom right).
Given the age of the card (of course) it‘s worth replacing ALL caps as shown in the video, but the symptoms in this case aren‘t typical for cap failure as usually reported here. That‘s why I‘d start with the regulator.
Important for regulator and caps: get quality parts from a RELIABLE source.

If it's a Pulsar2, that sounds like a daughter board repair rather than the buffering on the main board. I do believe the repair person linked via these forums does both, as well as replacing the small IC visible over the shielded area.

So, you kind of go the fixing path and not selling it into a cheaper price?

Great video, I loved to see this work done. Yes, I think it must be some silly capacitor or something like that, but my friend is totally out of this electronic world. Of course, if the problem was spotted easily, you can ask anyone with those skills to do the job for you, but how knows what is really failing in the board.

But everything else works perfectly in order thou.
