S|C should set up a website for that purpose and mail out to each registered user only.

How many users do we have exactly ?
Maybe we´re able to lower to 25 or 20 bucks which might make it easier for some.
Main goal is getting the driver AFAP, last but no least because hardware sales depend on the driver too.

Things are in progress, there will be a community funded effort as you surmised. Driver and 1 or two other critical fixes is the first tier, and guaranteed once certain threshold of users buy in, and then 2 more tiers of extra features. Let's keep the discussions from the sale threads though.
