Cheers, to all scopers that persisted
new Computer, still Scope?
Re: new Computer, still Scope?
z-link to adat converter?
an original A16 Ultra.
sp/dif and aes/ebu are EXACTLY the same, except that aes/ebu is +4 professional level and sp/dif is -20 consumer. it's VERY easy to convert one to the other. HOSA used to make a cheap converter.

Some devices (like my RME) are buffered enough and tolerant enough to variance in impedance that you can connect XLR to AES on one end, and connect the SPDIF connection to the interface. Make SURE this is in the documentation first.
I have 1 Scope PCI system, and 1 Xite system. Both are connected to the rest of the studio through a variety of wordclock (useful when more than 1 pair, not necessary for just AES/SPDIF and ADAT), adat, analog and network (RTP, Rednet, etc) connections. Scope runs like a dream on a quadcore 2015 Xeon and can still host bidule with the occasional plugin just fine, freeing me up to use anything from a 56core Xeon desktop (my 3D rig) to a 16core AMD 5950x (my visuals rig) to a laptop to a tablet or phone alongside Scope. Recommended.

Re: new Computer, still Scope?
After 20 years with scope 6+14dsp pci cards , my pulsar 6 dsp stopped working. I was left with the 14 dsp pro card. I bought a motu m4 USB audio interface to use it with my laptop. I then realized how faster was my laptop and the motu for working with daws compared to the old pci system with pc. Also the asio latency and stability is way better than the pci cards asio. So i decided to leave forever the scope mixing environment and mix directly to the daw I use. This gave me more productivity and speed of workflow.
I was about to sell the scope 14 dsp card. But I didn't because something was holding me back from this.Mostly because the scope synths have this unique 1st class quality and character.
So my new setup is laptop with Motu m4 USB audio interface, perhaps I will get the Motu 828 2024 audio interface, about 1000euros, in the near future.
Scope 14dsp card now is running to a dedicated pc to be used as a synth engine with the known premium scope quality and multiple synths + combinations.
Scope synths on a dedicated pc only for this purpose, run very stable. Cpu is 2, 3% and Personaly I enjoy and appreciate the play and sound better this way.
