Smoothing midi CC in modular 3?

Post by the19thbear »

I have midi controls learned in some modular modules. But i get tiny steps (127 midi) when tweaking for instance the filter.

I seem to remember there was a way to smoothen out midi CC?

Thanks

I use Val Monitor from Flexor. If you need additional smoothing, connect its output to a 3dB/octave filter (which makes it a simple slew limiter) or you can also use a feedback topology, but that's more complicated.

Flexor is too expensive for me.
How can i filter midi signals? In the scope routing window, I can't directly connect midi out to an eq it seems.

Thanks

I haven't tried them but it seems to be the aims of the smooth control modules: https://www.styledriver.eu/scope/modula ... NTROL.html

Wow! BC modular looks amazing. Thanks

Let me know if there are any other ways. I experimented a bit and BCmodulars filters seem to be even more steppy and using smootheners really slows down the CC response.

Ah. I figured it out.
mod3 constant val to 6db Lp in. 6db LP out into FM on filter. Done.

Ok tested some more.
It' snot completely smoothened by using this approach. I compared it to the minimax filter which was still more smooth.
Maybe there is some SDK magic going on in the background?

Or maybe there is a better way to do this than using a constant val to 6db Lp in. 6db LP out into F filter?

For Minimax, I think Speilraum made custom versions of certain devices to improve certain aspects like that. Worth looking for them just to have them.

Maybe check the de-zip modules from BC Modular?

Tried those. They actually work a lot worse than the manual filter solution. They make the sound even more "steppy"
