sound design question (sheilds drop from star wars)

Im keen to make that sound from star wars where they turn off the sheilds on the death star.
Its a fairly simply sound that starts with a mid range tone then drops steadly in pitch to a very low sub bass.
Any one know if there is a creamware synth that can do that kind of sound or has anyone made a mod2 patch that can?

How would I go about it?

I know that sound - it's a beautiful pure hum.

At the risk of stating the obvious it seems like just a sine wave (and maybe a little sawtooth backup) with a pitch envelope would do the trick. I don't think the synth you choose to do it on matters terribly much, it's more in the parameters. And the real work would be getting it to sound rich enough, and to keep the sound holding together as it went sub. Perhaps once you got the length and basic slope right you could work with as a sample ?

I too know the sound your talking about. and yes...... Oh yes...... it is indeed fine.

If you want the perfect synth for the job,
DUB SUB II is an almighty Bass synth with pitch envelope and obviously adjustable resonant filters. AND a 48db Overdrive.
