again: ADAT Dest switches off itself.

Hi,

I reported this problem some weeks ago.
Signals which are routed out to the ADAT Dest into the A16 are cut off for some seconds whenever I move the mouse or press a key.

Setup:
Audiobahn A16 (old version)
Pulsar I in PCI-Slot 3
SRB in PCI-Slot 4
K7S5A with Athlon 1800+
512 MB DDRAM
Rage128 AGP Graphics
No internet but onboard LAN activated.
USB activated for MIDEX 8 and SX dongle.
WinXP professional WITHOUT ACPI installed.

No IRQ conflicts so far.
Light cables are ok.

Sync problems can be excluded because ADAT input works correctly all the time.

I plugged the boards already in different slots and tested several BIOS settings like switching on/off the 2nd serial port.
Pulsar+SRB run on IRQ 3 and 5.
Can't force pulsar to get IRQ 9 or 10.

Ok, boards run now on IRQ 11 but symptom stays the same...

As I remember, this problem didn't happen under 98?
If reinstall 98 on a different hdd and the problem is still there, it could be concievable that a hardware fault developed at the exact same time you installed XP.

Very Very doubtful, but a remote possibility none the less.

Or a driver issue, do you have the latest XP drivers for your motherboard installed?

Yes, it should be a WinXP issue.
In win98 there were no hardware problems at all.

Yes, latest drivers for every component are installed.

Any WinXP tweaks?
But because of the mouse movement/key press behaviour it should be an IRQ problem, shouldn't it?

Does the rest of your project keep working together if you move the mouse or so? If yes, it could be an IRQ problem. If not, euh I wouldn' know it.

Everything works fine except the ADAT Dest.

Now it turned off completly.
I checked the light cables and plugged them into the inputs vice versa.

Inputs are still OK, no matter what light cable I use!
Output has no signal out.

When I switch the samplerates several times, there's sometimes a jitter noise at the ADAT output. This noise increases (the intervals between the clicks) when moving the mouse.
Yes, and in very rare cases there is a correct output.

Just out of interest what wattage power supply do you have in your machine?

Also, I assume none of your computer is overclocked? i.e FSB, PCI Bus?

I think this is really either going to be something really really obvious, or something really really obscure, either way it will be something stupid.

It's a good 350W power supply.
But it only eats about 100W.

I will test this problem with another A/D converter.
maybe my A16 is damaged?
