Hi Folks,
I had intended to use the Volkszampler VST plug-in as 16-part drum module in Logic. This way I could load up 16 different drum kits in a number of styles and have large variety of drum sounds at my disposal (and use only a single Logic audio instrument in the process).
However, the Volkszampler crashes Logic constantly. It is definitely related to the multiple output dll (VSToutDLL) that is stored in the "app" folder within the Volkszampler folder. If I remove this dll, the Volkszampler will open without crashing Logic. However, I can't load any instruments into the plug-in without this dll being present. (I get an error message stating that the dll is not present.)
I realize that Logic doesn't currently support multiple outputs from a VST plug-in. But I also have tried the demo version of Kontakt (which provides individual VST outputs) and it works really well in Logic. (However, Kontakt is overkill for the uses I mentioned above.)
I'm just wondering if anyone else has been able to get the Volkszampler VST plug-in to work reliably in Logic.
Incidentally, I have a Pulsar II / Powersampler setup and the STS series of samplers. Those work pretty well but the polyphony is really limited so I was trying to use the Volkszampler to releive some of the strain on my Creamware system. I only mention this to indicate that the problem is not somehow related to the presets that I am attempting to load into the Volkszampler. These same patches work well in my STS-4000 and STS-5000.
Thanks for your help!
