I have run across the most irritating MIDI problem ever and I believe it's Windows XP's fault.
Please correct me if I'm wrong here.

The problem: it seems that Controller Codes are ignored(!). With my Virus b and my E-mu Xtreme Lead it's
impossible to record the knob movements. These problems did not exist under Windows ME with Cubase 5.

But hey there mister (I hear some of you shout)... there could be a problem with your MIDI interface.
Nope. I've tested this with both my MIDI Terminal 4140 interface and the MIDI ins of my Pulsar II card.

I've tried with both Cubase SX and Reaktor 3 and it's impossible to record knob movements or assign a
fader to a knob. The really weird thing is that if I hook up the virus directly to my Pulsar II card and
examine the in-signal with a MIDI monitor... guess what happens... the MIDI Controller Codes are there!
Transmitting just fine into my Pulsar inputs. But can I record it into Cubase/Reaktor? Nahh...

Please. Tell me that my summer-cold has messed upp my mind and I have forgot to switch Windows XP from suck-mode.

Cheers,

Carl.

I like the MIDI Terminal 4140. It's a bit "special" to install under WinXP (take a look at their site). But I think it works just fine... the latest driver seem to be very stable.

Argh... I've been struggling with this all day now and I just can't hunt down the problem.

Virus (MPU): no.
Wavestation (MT #3): yes.
MicroQ (MT #1): yes.
XL-1 (MT #4): no.

Maaad... I'm getting maaaaaaaad.
(yes... I've checked the MIDI cables).

Some synths like the Virus & Q have a way of turning off sending midi externally. Check the System/Setup menus of your synths, and make sure this setting is turned on...
