an important point, Sub. Sitting in front of these things is actually one of the most physical demanding jobs one can imagine.
May I suggest some fun stuff to complement the effect of the right chair:
do some sports, whichever you like.
This is often neglected, since when you're young, you always feel good and strong.
Works wonders on creativity too if you've been out on the weekend for a real hard workout.

WOW... You guys have really helped!

I've been thinking about chairs the last few days and I've come to this concusion. I payed heaps for my studio monitor speakers becasue I consider they will last me for a very very long time, well, forever! I guess it's the same with my 22' flat high res monitor screen. My conclusion is this: a chair should last me a very long time. So why buy a cheap one? I guess for things that you use a lot and for things that will keep you going for years and years. Are worth $$$ in the long run.

I'm begining to really understand why studios cost so much. From the start of building my home studio I said. "I want the best stuff that will last! and be in budget"... (cough**) buget pfff... I forgot about that a while ago. I'm not made of money, but you know what... "it's a lifetime commitment"

Looks like: leather adjustable chair here I come! (I take my wallet at throw it onto the ground and say "eat dust"!,,, this happens often so my wallet just smiles and says "lifetime commitment".

Making music is a lifetime choice and commitment. You are either in or out. I'm in! I'm so lucky I don't have to many other commitments right now, becasue I'd surely see my demise. I pat my studio and say "I'm home"

Edit:
Thanks again to everyone who helped me understand the importance of a good chair.
