Headphone Amp
Which headphone amp do you use guys and how do you feed it? XLR, digital, phono?
Which headphones do you use to mix.
Does anyone use an A16 out to feed their headphones directly?

Re: Headphone Amp
I'm using a cheap one: http://www.thomann.de/gb/superlux_ha3d.htm
It can be used with batteries only, and it's very powerful and low noise.
It's a clone of this one: http://www.sounddevices.com/products/hx3/
I'm using it with a Shure srh 840 headphone, which is very clear, perfect for mixing. i've tried the sennheiser hd25 and sony mdr 7506, and this shure is very good for mixing.
I was using the hp amp with the scope cards xlr output, but since i got the xite1, i only use its phone output without anything else (the superlux ha3d was nice cause its 3 stereo amps and outputs, but i've never used them in the same time...).
edit: I also got a berhinger POWERPLAY PRO-8 HA8000 for my band, but i found the quality very bad, amps are noisy and this unite is not very robust (lots of contact failure).

I've used the A16U for phones out in band rehearsels. Seems to work fine.

I'm using the DOD SR460H - still good after 15 years !

And some Sennheiser headphones, also 15 years old.

Rane Mojo MH4 with Ultrasone HFI-2000 still going strong 10 years later
The MH4 was an absolute bargain at about £30 off ebay. The second hand price on these seems to have stayed reasonable.

Re: Headphone Amp
my A16 Mk2 feeds a snake which runs to a Furman headphone amp that i've been using for about 25 years.

Re: Headphone Amp
I'm using a modded headphone X-Can v2 which is a tube amp. I'm currently mixing on the AKG 701' which are very comfortable. I also have some Sennheiser HD 650.
I'm feeding them through the analogue outs of my soundcard.
I was just wondering if I fed them from a set of panned A16 Ultra outs whether the audio quality would be better?
I also have the XLR outs which are AES. Can these be used as analogue outs also?
Thanks

The guy who invented all of their product line has refined them even more at http://www.jhaudio.comvascomusic wrote:Anyone using Reference by Ultimate Ears?

But I am sure his former partners would appreciate cash for the older designs they still sell.
IEMs have replaced those last century designs where one is handcuffed to his rig.
I can take a dump while listening to a mix, get the mail, cook, etc.etc.
If they are not available though any old headphone amp is good, new ones are cheap, the XITE-1 Headphone is definitely a step up as the Ohmage Jurgen chose was top shelf.
Re: Headphone Amp
I have a Rolls 6 channel HP amp that has been working great for 13 years.

May I ask which headphones you use w/ the XITE ?dawman wrote: ... the XITE-1 Headphone is definitely a step up as the Ohmage Jurgen chose was top shelf.
My phones are very quite w/ that headphones destination output, but I use AKG 340 electrostatic - dynamic - sytems (2x 400 Ohms).

Maybe advise me,
I need a mini (micro) mixer with clean sound, without EQ etc.
1 line L R IN - from Scope card
1 L R out - for monitors
1 headphone out
