Scope with UAD
Anyone out there using UAD with Scope? I'm thinking about getting UAD-2 Solo. I own an Xite-1, wondering if there's a way to use it in conjunction with the UAD card.
Re: Scope with UAD
Some users run both (hubird, emotive, the19thbear) . As long as you have enough slots it should work - although subject to the normal run of the mill IRQ issues and such.

Re: Scope with UAD
The only thing I worry about with UAD is that it's a money pit. The price of some plugs is the price of a good synth you could find someone selling on ebay. Kind of ridiculous, but hopefully I'll be satisfied with one good bundle.

Can be useful.
I just have the boards, no bought software
Would like to be able to buy the plugs as piece, not in bundles...
Or am I wrong? Don't have such mony anyway
Before sending them to Scope I prepare the tracks in Cubase with compression and eq, plus dynamics (automation, of Scope mixer as well).
Scope does the rest of the whole mixing proces.
Would love to use UAD plugs for the Cubase part

What do you mean by "just the boards"?

Ahh, gotcha, which card setup did you get, did you get the UAD Solo or a higher one?
Re: Scope with UAD
UAD 2 quad it is.
If I try to do everything in Scope I meet the available 18 DSP.
So the bread&butter polishing I do in Cubase with Cubase plugins.

Gary, wherever you are, hoping you will chime in here, since I hear you're familiar with using both Scope and UAD together. Found a UAD-2 Duo for $510, would I be okay with just the UAD-2 Solo?

Re: Scope with UAD
And also, do you have to have any of the stupid UAD hardware to run this thing?
Re: Scope with UAD
The card IS the hardware, unless you get the outboard Apollo or Satellite in which case they are the hardware.
And the SC plugins purchased on sales bring the average cost per plug down way more than UAD plug sales do.
Yes , the UAD2 bang for buck is comparable to Scope DSP wise. But the plugins are at least double comparable Scope ones.Gaslight_Twilights wrote:The only thing I worry about with UAD is that it's a money pit. Re: Scope with UAD
I'm using 2xUAD-2 duo and 3xSonic|Core boards without any problems.
(I only had a problem with a gen1 scope, but solved now)
with xite shouldn't be a problem too.

4PC + Scope 5.0 + no more Xite + 2xScope Pro + 6xPulsarII + 2xLunaII + SDK + a lot of devices (Flexor III & Solaris 4.1 etc.) + Plugiator.

Right on. So I'd probably be okay with just the UAD Solo? Also, how do you use UAD with Scope running as your Asio driver?
Re: Scope with UAD
UAD plugins are simply VST dll pretty the same as the native VST.
I'm using Cubase 7.5 with Scope ASIO and Scope project opened, for easy routing and realtime audio treatment.
The UAD plugs are opened into Cubase VST shell (as insert or send) and that's all... very simple.
Never had compatibility problems from the different brands.

Re: Scope with UAD
So, would the UAD solo be enough?
Re: Scope with UAD
With the UAD solo (1 or 2?) you can open the basic plugins in a decent number of instances, but very few new-generation plugs.
The UAD-1 is no longer supported by Universal Audio, so I hope that your "solo" is a UAD-2

Re: Scope with UAD
I use 2 UAD-1 cards along with the oldest TC PCI Powercore and of course 2 PCI Pulsar boards (UADs and Pulsars in Magma chassis) and that's heaven. UADs go for delay and reverb, TC goes for Final... I mean, mastering thing and Pulsars do the rest&best. The most crucial thing you should beware of is the latency.
