i'm new to this board and firstly just wanna say hi.
ok. i'm a long time logic user, and after getting my version 5 upgrade i decided it's time for a hardware upgrade as well. firstly, does anyone here successfully run a pulsar 2 system with logic platinum on a mac? i'm a currect delta user and love the drivers, quite fantastic. how comperable are the pulsar 2's asio drivers? is latency a big issue. aslo, i've been doing some homework, and it appears that XTC mode (using pulsar's wares in VST format, correct?) is only possible on a windows platform, is this correct? is this going to be implemented on mac at any point?
the pulsar seems to be a lot of what i'm looking for. i have a powerful mac, but i'd like a card with DSP that boosts i/o performance as well as the processing capabilities logic. all those extra synths and plugs are quite an extra bonus if it does what i'd like.
another thing, using creamware's software, is it possible to apply reverb to an input source that is being sent to your sequencer for recording? currently logic is incapable of FX monitoring on incoming tracks. logic users know how frustrating this is...
just wondering if i could solve that problem with one of these cards.
thanks for all your help, sorry for my long windedness.
hello, all. pulsar/logic users?
I run a Pulsar II with Logic 4.8.1 very succesfully on a Mac G4/400.
You can't use XTC and you don't want too either.
Trust me.
I have 3 ms latency so that is'nt a problem.
By comparison i heard that the Waldorf Microwave has 7 ms latency.
Don't know if it is true but you won't have more latency trouble with Pulsat then a hardware synth.
BTW. i run effects on live inputs every day so i don't know what your talking about.
It is possible and it has nothing to do with Pulsar.

Welcome Lord, hope you like this Forum as many of us do, it’s a great please to learn and share.
Of course you can record FXs to your sequencer directly from Pulsar. In fact, you can route anything to anywhere in the Pulsar environment, this is what Pulsar does best: routing.

hmm, not used to typing in my password... anyway.
what do you mean you monitor effects on live inputs? i don't work for emagic, but shy of that, i might as well, i've been with it for so long. even in version 5 there's no recognized/legitimate support for effects monitoring on live recording tracks. say i would like add a reverb onto a vocal take i'm recording live directly in logic from a pre amp, shy of plastering it across the entire output, there isn't a real way to add verb to the take. there are several work arounds, but none are reliable, or reccomended. anyhow, i'm interested to hear how you do this.
3ms is pretty awesome. is that your total input and output latency? how do you use your pulsar if not in XTC mode. i heard XTC's timing was kind of bogus. do you still get to use all the supplied software like the synths and plugs? logic is definitely the musicians software, and the pulsar seems like the musicians card, so it seems like a good pairing.
also, with all of the included software, (as i asked before but am unsure of the answer), is it possible to put a reverb on a vocal track you're inputting live, and sending to your sequencer, without actually applying it to the track and printing the reverb across it?
thanks you for any help.

I route all my synths from Pulsar to Logic.
In Logic i can apply effects to them in real time.
If i had a microphone connected i could do the same.To Logic there is no difference.
And you can add effects in Pulsar enviroment as well without recording it to disk.
Actually i think it is more difficult to record with effects in Logic.
About latency, i do run with 3 ms but since i route my synths to Logic they go thru ASIO 2 times and so i have 6 ms delay with my Pulsar synths.
I don't notice it except for drums which i can easily compensate for in Logic.
On my softsynts in Logic i have 3ms latency.
I could choose to route my Pulsar synts directly to the analog output and not go thru Logic then i would have no latency at all.
This is hardware you know.
