that's pretty much it Dante. it's hard to be a human and have wants, let alone needs, so it's not like i don't sympathize, but i think the main thing is that no one has given up. the hardware and software is already a pretty great thing, just as it is. no one in the world has done better, for what Scope is in it's entirety. we all would like certain things that would make everything soooo supreme, and that really is a good thing.
Scope has never really been computer hardware and software. there are cards in use that were originally mated to Pentium 2 machines in 4th generation i7 machines. it really is time for a redo, not to change it, but to make the system more compatible with the current operating systems. this doesn't mean that it's INCOMPATIBLE in any way with OSX or Windows7,8,9, but it's not matched as efficiently as it could be, so everything that needs to be done takes longer than it would if all of the basic building blocks were made from newer code.
making the same basic structure out of newer code means that eventually, updates and versions for other operating systems will be easier. so may things need to be rebuilt, that it just doesn't make sense to do things twice, once quickly(which so often ends up being a nightmare)and then again for the new, updated version. v5.1 represents code that came out of windows 95 updated to work properly in windows8, and it does work properly, even if a few out of hundreds of plugins have a problem in 64bit(and a couple like the z-matrix in any os) have problems.
v5.1 is more than usable and useful, despite the lack of XTC mode and STS and older Scope sequencers in 64bit windows, unless that's all you want Scope for. if that's the case, i understand the unhappiness, if not, i understand the enthusiasm. don't think that it's complaining alone that i have a problem with, even joking. hey, the truth is the truth and opinions and feelings matter to people. i just want to also write about good stuff, because i don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. it's not incompetence(unless it's on my part) or lack if effort or concern or resolve that these jokes can be made. it's just reality. i can take the jokes, heck i didn't even do anything for people to be angry with me.
as i said, i just wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong idea, that the thing doesn't work and we're all desperately waiting for the day that our computers can make music or process audio. if you have Scope and you can't make music or process audio, sorry for you...
