Scope 6 & General Improvements on X64 Win 7

Post by fraz »

Hi,

I've not been here for a while-Hows the Scope 6 coming along---?-I've not seen anything about this.

Also the improvements to Scope users for X 64 bit systems like Samplers STS etc....what ever the gripes or annoyances were.

Any info please say...... :) ...

How many little annoyances were there for use with Scope in Windows 7 64 bit

I did read that the STS samplers wouldn't work with Xite-1 on Windows 7 64 bit - and maybe even with my other PCI Creamware cards like Scope Pro - Its the same tech isn't it?

How many other annoyances were there in comparison for using Xite etc.... with XP on 32 bit...........

I ask this this way around in case I try to use newer PC's eg. 64 bit an wander how many functions would be lost if the Sonic Core improvements are not forthcoming?

mainly STS and XTC mode will be lost in 64bit. both win7 and win8 are available in 32bit versions, so only go to 64bit if you really need the extra ram for Kontact or a non-audio application.

There is only one way to describe how Scope 6 is coming along:

Soon!

VDAT works on W7 64Bit, provided you use the right DSP (Search Pz and there is plenty on this).
Also if you use more than 8 channels you will not be able to save the project, without disconnecting VDAT IO (above Ch8.) first.

That's not a major loss-I now I've asked before-I've got a 32 bit XP machine all setup-but I'm thinking about the bigger apps that need RAM-Maybe sometimes I won't need all that RAM/big-RAM-apps-No problem just switch machines [that why I got extra pci-e cards for Xite :) ]-I do try to get the bases covered somehow!-

XTC mode-I don't think i'd bother with this going forward-It was too much messing around but I did get it to work-which is why I pursued it but its so much more effective in full Project mode and saves some headaches-

STS can also be used on the PCI cards which are XP and staying thay way.

When Scope 6 arrives maybe all the goodies will work without limitation / workaround? - Thanks for te info...

Uh... :o ...You got me there--- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_calendar so I had to look it up.... ....and this is what I found. It ain't gonna help sort any Scope query problems out but may give something to talk about whilst we ponder how soon Scope 6 will be.... :)

Don't be too sure, the Mayan calendar / Scope 6 link has been well documented:

while everyone is having fun, i'll be that guy who reminds everyone that it's not as simple as you might think, especially without a whole team of people. i don't know, but i think that JUCE has created some fatal problems. add to that, no one wants to spend money, and all i can say is "you'll have to wait". don't be depressed or worried, as Holger is showing no signs of quitting. just because there are problems today doesn't mean that there will always be problems and Scope isn't suddenly crappy because v6 isn't here.

i think that some(not necessarily anyone here at PZ), just want something new, more than they actually want to create music or work with audio.

Gary this is the modern world ..want want want ! I battle this myself everyday. We are bombarded as consumers heavily at every angle. We need the latest gadget and we want it now. We have become programed by big money corporations.
When my parents were kids they had one pair of shoes to be worn for school and church. They played in there bare feet. Now kids collect the latest $200 nike shoe and stack them up in there bedroom WTF.
Anyway scope is great. And will even be better when it's updated...meanwhile I will sit back and make do with what I have and be thankful.
Meanwhile the ad bots are lurking while I write :(

JUCE - Hmmm - well thats just a front end, admittedly part of the whole 'open scope' strategy thang, but if the S6 engine has been built as a GUI independant entity (e.g. any GUI can be bolted on later), then Holger might come up with a different strategy !!

Anyway, I got redundancy in 2 x DAW Boxes with up to date O/S so happy to chug along w/ 5.1 for another year or two while Holgs finds a different juice flavour 8)
