Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
I did not think it was possible but it would appear that the DSP Mixer in Scope is far superior to that in a DAW such as Cubase.
Great though, I can still use the DAW to make quick renders, albeit using Sends.
I am only using a single S/PDIF out to a TC Electronic BMC-2, which then becomes mono and onto an Active Avantone MixCube.
For this hardware, I would want to use the ADAT's in non-SMUX mode, as I have some Echo Layla 3G's but that would account for only 3 of the potential inputs (I have 3 x Pulsar II) at this stage.
I have a Focusrite Saffire 26 i/o for recording and might see if I can get more.
As for the Laylas' I was thinking of recording the output of Scope so I can add extra DSP from UAD for example or add more software instruments (the primary setup with Cubase 7 Full and Scope is to generate MIDI messages) and "render" audio using VST System Link.
Does anyone have experience with this kind of setup?
I really don't want to use the analog outputs of Scope, because they (DAC) are simply too old.
Hope I'm making sense.

If the advise of us wouldn't suit you, would you call itthen a dangerous act and negative in the extreme?
Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
Obviously, you "Hubird" have limited experience because you are responding as well as repeating yourself in the wrong thread. For the sake of peace i strongly advise against this practice.
Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
yes, native mixers aren't as good.
old DACs aren't necessarily worse. in fact the oldest 1 bit DACs are superior to many modern DACS, they're just expensive to impliment. the card's analog outs are very good, probably as good as the vast majority of consumer gear out there. the newest DACs do tend to be quieter than many older DACs, but noisefloor isn't a measure of audio quality in many cases.

I can see now why you work for sonic core, respect
Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
You're underestimating Garyb, and you're overestimating yourself.
I.e., did you find the busses of the STM mixer already after all that time?

Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
there's probably not much point in arguing with someone who already knows what your needs are, hence the flame; fully justified and called for in my opinion. I would do it over and again if need be since those who use the word "troll" must first look at themselves.hubird wrote:You're underestimating Garyb, and you're overestimating yourself.

Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
To me, it's very strange to ask something in a forum and then send to hell the guys who answer.
Z is the forum for people who believe, use, like ... etc ... Scope. You blame Gary to work for SC and thus for not being objective... Aren't you ? Almost all other Z member believe in Scope too.
None who likes his expensive music gear is objective. We are all convinced that Scope needs update on a lot of things. For example, I'd like a good midi timing, better midi management like (a so simple thing) several knob respond to 1 midi control... Better automatic dsp assignment and a lot of other things. I think most of Z member try to go in the right direction, try to be constructive.
At the begining of Creamware, I was one of the most complainer here. It was really hard to make it working well but I read the manuals first, the day I had my first pulsar I card.
If your card DAC are not good enough to you, use another ! SC wil not come at your home sweet home to change them on your cards. You want awesome DAC but you say you want to directly export MP3 !?!?
Why don't you read manuals instead of asking beginner question which discredit yourself after 2 years of Scope use ? And in addition to that, send to the toilet the guys who answer you ?

Please - do not feed the troll!
In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
Regardless of the circumstances, controversial posts may attract a particularly strong response from those unfamiliar with the robust dialogue found in some online, rather than physical, communities. Experienced participants in online forums know that the most effective way to discourage a troll is usually to ignore it, because responding tends to encourage trolls to continue disruptive posts – hence the often-seen warning: "Please do not feed the trolls".

Not at all.JoPo wrote:Z is the forum for people who believe, use, like ... etc ... Scope. You blame Gary to work for SC and thus for not being objective... Aren't you ? Almost all other Z member believe in Scope too.
I will not be told what I need or don't need, use etc., and anyone who speaks to me in this way will get the flame.
It's not my fault that the majority of Scope users are intellectually stuck in the past, in a bygone era where their work methods and workflows are out of date.
Re: Marked improvement in Dynamic Range
hubird wrote:then why asking advise here?
Yeah ! That's a simple question !
Leave the old guys intellectually stuck in the past alone ! Go ask to people from to day ! You ask things to dinosaurs, it's normal to get 60 000 000 years old answer ( and for the youngest of Z member) !
It's impossible to understand you : you ask things to people who you believe they are "intellectually stuck in the past, in a bygone era where their work methods and workflows are out of date" !
Go buy a new coherent brain !

Who is this idiot again and why is he spending our time?
How on earth he critics the whole users of a forum?
I propose that man to be banned out of planetz or i will take care of him personally.
@garyB and others : There is absolutely no reason to respond to such people. You have to understand immediately who is each time. We are having several threads created by assholes and we are taking serious of these? I can''t understand why is that happening. Do you have to prove that you answer everything regarding scope?
Do you want to prove something? Emotive and similar guys is obvious from their first sentences that are inserious persons. Do we want such persons in here? Do we like to help such persons?
They are taking advantage of your good will and making fun of you. You are helping wackos for no reason.

I know who the moderator is so empty threats aren't a worry.fra77x wrote:I propose that man to be banned out of planetz or i will take care of him personally.
In defence of GaryB, he works for Sonic Core, so needs to be an ambassador which is fine; I don't mind moderation coming from him since after all he is the person on the other end of the email but as I've said now many times; I won't be told what I need and what I don't in relation to my DAW and hardware.
As to your wasted time, that's your problem.

Just stick the guy on your ignore list. If enough people do it he'll never get another response.

Fra77x- after you called this thread to my attention, I found it necessary to delete the majority of YOUR posts here, which were all inflammatory, profanity-laden and unnecessary.fra77x wrote:Who is this idiot again and why is he spending our time?

Please, as Arkadin suggested, use your ignore list (add foes in your profile).
Please let garyb represent his own views and decide when to assist or ignore this person. If someone is acting uncool, then you can discuss/ignore/etc, but taking it on yourself to launch huge expletive-laden attacks is not helpful.
I don't know emotive, and haven't read all of his posts. None of the other threads were marked for administrator attention- and I unfortunately don't have time to monitor all activity here.
What I expect is that people here will behave like adults and treat each other with maturity, and with flexibility for language and culture differences, as well as differences in skill level and experience. On the other hand, if someone is trolling to the point of requiring a ban, I expect to be notified (by marking posts for moderator attention), or by personal message.
Emotive, if you're not interested in the advice or answers being given here, then please leave. There's no need to be here and insult those that are trying in good faith to assist you. If you can stay, and continue the discussion, while avoiding insults and tantrums, then that's fine.
