Does replacing a card requires scope re-install or not?

Post by faxinadu »

i installed scope on a system that had a pro card and a luna card.

the home card just died. i have an extra pulsar card i can stick in the system instead of the luna.

is it essential to reinstall scope or will the system just accept the new pulsar and work and stay stable.

actually never tried this, are we true "plug'n'play" with scope? i'm on v5.

it souldn't be any big deal unless important keys belonged to the broken card and none of the other cards in question.
otherwise, just install the new card and install the driver for it. everything should continue to work as always.

if the broken card has important keys and you need to transfer those keys to one of your other cards, that can be done for free, but you'll need to return the broken card. write to support if you need help transferring keys to another card.

yeah as we talked in the email i sent, but the question is, once the keys are on the new card, so the situation will be :

- luna taken out (keys for flexor lost)
- pulsar put in to replace it
- scope pro (with new keyfile for flexor)

so will it work without an install in the sense that all that will happen is when i load a flexor module in modular it will ask for the keyfile and i will point it to it and thats it?

i'm thinking it should be fine just making sure.

thanks for your time gary

"just install the new card and install the driver for it. everything should continue to work as always."

so when the pulsar is put in, windows will recognize it as a new device and just point it to the driver, but as far as scope system install, no need yes? ehhehe sorry for asking the same thing in a million ways, but the last thing i wanna do right now with projects running is start tweaking the stable system i got going at the moment.

that's all correct.

for the key, just enter or import the new card's key(s).

once the driver is installed, Scope will recognize the card upon the next Scope startup.
