Hi! I've been reading some interesting comments about JoeMeek preamps here and I was wondering what can it do for me. I'm currently recording guitar tracks direct by going through Vintage Yamaha Tone Booster into Mesa Boogie V-Twin tube preamp and then into J-Station. From there I take the signal into Pulsar via S/PDIF. I get a good sound out of that setup and hot volume levels. If I take the signal from J-stations analog outs in through the JoeMeek MQ1 what will I gain? And an OT question: Does anyone know anything about Yamaha SB200 Pedal Board FX?! My Tone Booster is taken out of one and I really love it, but I can't get any information about it on the internet or anywhere else.

it seems that you don't need a pre-amp ?
so you still have the compression and equalizer of the MQ3. not sure you need that with all the things you have .

I've been preaching the gospel of JoeMeek here and elsewhere. I love my Meeks. Easily some of the best sounding preamps in my collection. Really warm sounding with a great 60's vibe which makes perfect sense with today's digital technology. I like their compressors too. Buttery and smooth!

An external preamp (like the Meek) is really to add a certain color to your pallette. No reason why you couldn't use it for recording your guitar but as already mentioned, it sounds like you already have a pretty decent direct recording setup. A Meek probably won't add much to what you already have. But if you're looking for a good mic preamp or something for recording bass or clean direct acoustic guitar, the Meek's are a great product and I recommend any of them. If you can afford it, check out the VC1Q or the Twin.
