Surf to : http://users.pandora.be/valium/Planetzchat.htm if you don't have an irc client

for those of you with an irc client

server : chat.be.krey.net port 6667
channel : #PlanetZ

Greetz to you all and see you there!!!!

Hi guys and girls,

I just had an idea, as I frequently find myself on irc chatservers I thought maybe it would be an interesting thing to have some kind of Planetz Channel somewhere ... Don't shoot me if you hate the thought of realtime communicating with fellow users, it's just an idea. And if some of you are interested I'd even offer to start it up and let everybody know the correct address on how and where to join ...

Just let me know what you guys think and maybe we can start a channel, this could be really interesting as most of us aren't from the same country or region and it would really be a multi-cultural channel. But one thing is for sure, we should only go on with this if we are willing to keep the same good ambience and the same spirit up like here on the forums.

Maybe this won't be a good idea to some (or maybe all) of you but hey, just expressing my opinion on that ...

Greetz

I think it's a great idea!

Don't know much about IRC though. Where can I go to find out more about it? Is it better than AIM (AOL Instant Messenger)?

I think its a cool idea too! especially as I spend so much time on irc anyway.

To that end, I've setup a channel called #planetz on quakenet. It's a pretty friendly network away from all the script kiddies and warez hunters on efnet.

Just point your favourite irc client to one of the servers listed here:

http://staff.quakenet.org/servers.phtml

to get you going try
/server chat.uk.quakenet.org
/join #planetz

US users should not have any problems using european servers.

If you dont have an irc client, mirc (www.mirc.com) is a popular choice for windows users.

Dress code and attitude to be the same as planetz.com.

See you there!
btw, im zen on irc

and now im zen on here too

Cool! Will definitely see some of you there. Just as soon as I understand the technology. Already started reading up on it.

for those of you with an irc client

server : chat.be.krey.net port 6667

I tried to join but got this message (in my irc client mIRC and in the web interface) :

You are not welcome to this server: [G] lame clients [angelke]

is there anything wrong with using a popular network like efnet? splits don't happen too often these days, and the servers don't seem so picky (I never ever saw this message in about 4 or 5 years of irc-ing)

peace

hm, that's weird. I'm connected, so the server's fine. I'm not an IRC guru though, but I managed to connect via Trillian (www.trillian.com)

There's a couple of people now, it's fun! I suggest to keep your z nickname, to make things easier

There's different ways to connect.
-with Valium's page you need Java enabled
-mIRC is an IRC client without installation, just download and install, pc only: http://www.mirc.co.uk/get.html
-Trillian does ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, AOL and IRC. I use this. Get it from http://www.trillian.com
There's plenty of free IRC clients here, also for mac. An IRC syntaxand mIRC commands: here.

Connect to server 'chat.be.krey.net port 6667' under Kreynet, and connect to PLanetz chat. Syntax, once you're on the server: "join #PlanetZ".

It may take 60secs to connect to the server, and about 10s to connect to #PlanetZ channel.
