Intel i7

Post by fidox »

Hi,

soon i'm getting Intel Core i7 with hyperthreading technology.

What do you recommend , to leave hyperthreading enable or disable for scope (5.1) + cubase + vst system + windows 7 32bit?
What makes difference ?
Is there any kind of speed improvement while enabled or disabled and ofcourse how's with stability ?

Thanks for any kind of experiences or opinions,

Best,
Matej

As a tech person I would go for the latest and greatest 64 bits instead of 32 bits, for future proofness too. 64 bits Cubase / Scope 5.1 / Windows 7 works fine with me.

On hyperthreading my personal experience was that disabling it increased legacy PCI performance.

This is the official quote on the subject:

thanks for your reply and link you send me, usefull ;)

Well, i'm using too much VST instruments, which doesn't support 64bit, some will never, but i'll think about 64bit next time,
i will satisfy my needs for now :)

32bit is fine for most.

hyperthreading doesn't do anything for realtime audio. the virtual core's precesses must be calculated by real cores...

both work about the same, though ACHI is better theoretically.

if it's a SSD, i always use ACHI, if it's a regualr HDD, i ususally use ide.
