Scope 5.1 upgrade question
Hi All,
I have purchased a upgrade to Scope 5.1 but got an email from SC asking what serial number I want to use for the license. I have 3 cards in my system, I supplied the 3 HW serial numbers when purchasing the upgrade, the email from SC said
"thank you for your order of SCOPE v5.1 Software Upgrade in our Sonic Core Online shop. You have sent us 3 Serial numbers. For which card do you want the licence, because you just bought one licence for one card.
I presume if I supply the serial number for my I/O card I will still be able to use the DSP of my 2 other cards? Which serial number should I provide?
Just to clarify the 3 cards I have in my system are
1st card: Pulsar 2 classic
2nd card: Pulsar 2 classic with I/O plate removed ( the I/O plate is faulty)
3rd card: Pulsar SRB
Thanks in advance.

Re: Scope 5.1 upgrade question
As a general rule, you only need 5.1 on the I/O card. But do send them your keyfile/allkeys file as well in case there are any special devices registered to the other cards.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
Re: Scope 5.1 upgrade question
as NTN mentions, you might check what's registered on the other cards that goes beyond the basic Scope Software.
They don't do license transfer, so it's (imho) best practice to choose the card which already has most stuff registered.
Unless you want to split the system across 2 (or more) PCs.
cheers, Tom

Re: Scope 5.1 upgrade question
Thanks for the reply guys, I'm think understanding now how the keys file works. So would it be right to say the following, I have 2 cards in a system, let's say optimaster is registered to the 2nd card only , If I remove this card and try to load optimaster it will ask for the key's file because the device is not registered for the first card?
Cheers
Andrew

Re: Scope 5.1 upgrade question
Yes.
But also note that the 5.1 software pack is very packed with devices, so in case of Optimaster it wouldnt matter because it's included in 5.1

Re: Scope 5.1 upgrade question
yes, keys go with cards, not owners as ntn and astro have suggested.
as long as both cards are in the same machine, only one card(it doesn't matter which one) needs to have the v5.1 software key. if you upgrade one card, be sure to send your old keyfile in a seperate email referencing the order number and you'll get keys for all your devices for all cards, even though only the upgraded card will have the v5.1 software key.
btw-i saw your request for service to S|C. i don't think that there are any more parts, but you still might be able to find an i/o plate seperately if you get a negative response. i may have a used z-link plate for sale if you need it. the card should still be good as a dsp booster card in any case, so i wouldn't do anything drastic even if you have bad luck getting it fixed.

Re: Scope 5.1 upgrade question
Thanks Gary and NTN,
Just for some background, I initially had a pulsar 2 classic and a XTC board. The I/O plate became faulty so I removed the I/O plate and purchased another Pulsar 2 classic card. Hence I now have 3 cards with 6 DSP's each.
Adriana sent me an email asking which card I wanted the 5.1 upgrade for, I have since sent Adriana an email with the serial number of the new I/O card I purchased and my V4 scope.rgy file.
So Gary, should I still send a separate email to SC support as you mentioned ?

Re: Scope 5.1 upgrade question
Thanks Gary,
also thanks for the info re service request. I have done exactly what you suggested and am now just using it as a DSP booster. I'm now bound to getting Motherboards with 3 PCI slots though. My current Intel DP965LT board has the 3rd PCI slot on the far end of the motherboard so I now need another longer TDM cable as only 1 of the TDM cables reach this card. Can I order this from SC or should I look for connectors locally and make this cable?

it's probably just as well to make your own...

Re: Scope 5.1 upgrade question
Maybe you already have done your own cable. Just for anybody reading it - I needed to have the connectors at a different place as well. There's no magic to the cable. You can easily move the connectors (like me) or make your own. Not sure how long it can get but some inches might not be the game-changer.
Re: Scope 5.1 upgrade question
i made one a meter long so that it could connect cards inside the computer to a magma box(for a client) and it actually worked...
Scoperise has an article on making a cable(from the archives here in the pz tips and tricks section written by subhuman).
