the Asio-only named version IS 32 bit integer (at least that's what my sequencer tells me...), the other type is called Asio-float ;)
As you can see they've stopped the confusing name scheme (mentioned in the other thread) in Scope 5.

cheers, Tom

i see, so the "Asio2-32 64" (as it appears in routing window) is 32bit, or both 24 or 32bit dependent on the sequenser capabilities?
.... hm.. well... in my case propellerhead reason sees 24bit asio channels? why not 32bit?

because that's what reason can handle, or that is what the reason audio properties are set to.

actually there is not much i can do in reasons audio properties.
i just get the asio ios as 24bit and there is nothing i can do to change it to 32bit.

in sonar for instance i see the asio ios as 24 bit as well but there is also the option of recording in 32bit. does this mean that scope stm mixers and sonars engine communicate in perfect match(scope 32bit integer to sonars 32bit recording) nomater if sonar shows 24bit scope asio ios??

not all of those programs are CAPABLE of 32bit integer. if they are only capable of 24bit, then that's how they communicate with Scope.

Nuendo and Cubase can do 32bit floating point or 24bit integer. if you want to use 32bit float then you need to use the asio flt source modules.

Samplitude will do 32bit integer. if you connect to Scope then Sam will show 32bit.

you only get the resolution that the app is capable of.

Every single A/D converter in existence can't convert more than 24bit data, nor can any standardized protocol carry more than that (ADAT, AES/EBU, SPDIF, or even MADI). So, those DAWS are serving nearly all I/O by supporting 24bit only.

We SCOPE users are among the lucky few that can actually make use of those extra 8 bits in our hardware 8) :D
