I like my creamware platform alot(3cards 11 dsps). eventhough it has some unstable issues its the center of my studio. The only thing im not happy about is the third party support. im aware that there are some great synth developers out there, i havent tried many of them though. But getting the "whackyest!" bass or lead sound arent my thing. im more a producer/songwrighter. with songwrighter i mean chords, rythem, melody and things like that. So i dont think theres to many third party options wich are really suited or essential for me. the only thing i have bought is the timeworks bundle.(like it alot but i have some problems with the compx its seems to have a very low input, any suggestions)
i know the lack of third party has been debated alot of times, so im sorry to bring it up again, but i was reading a sound on sound issue from april 99 and i found this text
"Following my review of the new Creamware Pulsar (SOS March 1998), more information is now appearing about third-party support. Creamware themselves refer to these companies as "pioneers", and they include Prosoniq, Quantec (room simulation), Sonic Timeworks (reverb), Spectral Design, C-Mexx (remote control mixer), Wildcat Canyon Software (Autoscore pitch-to-MIDI software), and NemeSys (Gigasampler). The named companies have apparently stated that they have either started program development or intend to, and product launch dates may therefore be some months away. "
so what happend? wheres the third party support mentioned here except for timeworks.
scope/pulsar is a great platform and deserves more third party support
thermos
third party development?

Absolutely!!!
That´s all what a DSP system must stand for. Super 3rd party support!!
Sorry for being rude on this topic.... But the person that made those claims of having already 3rd parties on this platform, should be made responsible - Those guys who are against the support of 3rd parties, are as well against the users of this platform and should be sorted out! Otherwise we as users will never benefit from our DSPs as we could.
I´m a little harsh on this subject, because of one post I saw at the "Yahoo" forum, where someone got a letter from "Sony" where they stated that they would love to support our platform but can´t unless the support of 3rd parties would improve... That thing shows me that there are a few people at work that just don´t belong into the business of DSP marketing!!
But anyway, I think that we will see more third parties in the future because this platform needs to survive. And therefore it´s ecessary to invite 3rd paties, because that will attract new users. And on the long run the best advertisement a company can have is being aknowledged by the users in forums like EQmag/Prorec. Quality, Image and performance...
I said it already in the Creamware forum it´s like the "Power-R" algo in Logic or the "UV-22" in Cubase.. Those things do attract users, because they where not available for smaller budgets in the past... This will lead to a larger user base and more money for Creamware! We as users will benefit from that because Creamware can invest more to create new technologies and better software...
Don´t get me wrong... there are a few plugs on this platform that do really kick... I think of the "Vintage EQ", "PT reverbs", ...
You would have to pay much more in "real world" to get a similar quality!!!
I´m still new to this platform, but as I read through the posts I found out that there are some users that belong to this platform since years. I think after being a loyal user for such a long period of time they have deserved to get more 3rd parties on this platform!
Regards,
Sunshine

What CW needs to do is similar to what digidesign and Mackie do with their platforms. Even MOTU starting from the ground up with their 2408 system was able to put together a software team that brought about Digital Performer and their plug-ins. Cubase has VST. Creamware has their own proprietary stuff.
Its not about needs or even wants. They need to subcontract this out to other companies. Chief among them should be the following:
Waves- Why not a CW bundle?
Sony- The Oxford runs on the same chips. Let's make a plug-in off their kick-a EQ.
TC Electronics- CW Native Bundle.
Sonic Foundary- Their DFX library could easily be ported to CW instead of Direct X.
Here's the teaser. Each of these for $399 would sell lots of them.
The problem is that most CW users are Luna users. Where in the world will a Luna user get enough DSP to run a Waves Reverb? That's my ultimate curiosity. I believe I could, I have lots of chips but there in lies the CW problem. When they go to the developers and say this is what we're doing and here's how many users are out there with this kind of DSP card being our most common---there isn't enough DSP for the devloper to smile, especially when they're getting devlopment money to port their product line to Digidesign, VST, and other leading protocols.
What do you say we encourage CW to sell some of their stock to the devlopers so that they can increase their marketshare.
Speaking of which, what do you think their current marketshare is and what do you think the potential of that marketshare could be if they would have more 3rd party development. That's the multi-million dollar question the execs at CW Germany should be asking.

The problem that we seem to have on the CW platform is that generally FX seem to be a hog on the DSP's. The way I see it there's only two solutions to this problem.
1 - Put newer DSP's on the CW cards.
(everybody's saying it. But that doesn't really help existing users)
....So why not?
2 - Build an FX board. this could be connected to any existing setup and could be the answer to all our problems. Imagine having 5 or 6 multi-effex units on a card which are compareable to the best hardware units around. Again this would be down to CW....most likely. However I don't see why CW couldn't team up with 3rd parties on this one.
