Favourite top two stock Scope Synth presets.

Post by dante »

For ScopeRise, I'd like to list peoples favourite top one or two factory presets for each of the stock synths, (optionally with mp3 or soundcloud clip) and comments (similar to what Ben setup for the Modular library but on a much smaller scale of course).

Think this : You are manning a scope demo workstation (in a hi-tech music shop for example) with up to a dozen stock scope synths loaded on an XITE, to demo what sounds come out-of-the-box to impress keyboard players.

Thier attention span may be limited so you have about 5 mins to show the top two preset sounds or so from half a dozen or so of the stock 5.1 synth (no extra FX, only those inside the synth itself).

No real deadline. Whichever ScopeRise edition (July 15 or Sept 15) features it will just be a blurb about an existing resource but if theres contributions before (or after) these dates I'll still be updating it as we go and make the link available to contributors.

The idea would be a resource for anyone selling XITE to a keyboard player as a live or studio unit. I already have an XITE project setup with about 8 of the synths with reasonable polyphony, but even without the hardware a salesman could go to the web page with a pic of each synth and top fave 2 or 3 factory sounds for each.

OK I understand the target better then ...

I should have some time to setup something for you soon.

I already know my favourite stocksynth:
- Minimax
- Pro12
- Vectron
- LightWave
- UKnow 007
- B2003

But I still have to figure out which factory preset is my favourite for each synth ... :D

PS: sent you a PM

Are Minimax and Pro12 stock? Maybe you should list the synths you're considering as I'm a bit confused these days as to what is stock.

Stock to me is:

EZ Synth
Inferno
BlueSynth
SB404
miniscope
miniscope MkII
Poison
UKnow007
LightWave
Vectron Player
Prisma

Additional synths (to me) are:
B-2003
Minimax
Pro12
proTone
Vectron
Prodyssey

Synths (and lots more) have been added to V5 software.

"Instruments: Synthesizer and Sampler, Sampleplayer, Modularpatches, Arpegiator Minimax, Profit 5, B2003, Modular 2, Modular III, Vectron, Lightwave, Prisma, SB404, Poison, EDS 16i, EDS 8i, BlueSynth, EZSynth, miniscope, U KNOW 007, Vectron Player, Inferno, Arpeg01 STS-2000P, STS-3000, STS-4000, STS-5000"

I see Proddesy isn't on the list but i THINK it is included as well.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Nope. at least not when you come from a 3 or 4 DSP card as well is the six string and Pro 12 or ProTone, the Minimax is in.

As for the favourite stock presets I must say, when it is there, I like a -init- preset most. A synth shouldn't be a preset artificer but for sure it's good for a first impression.
So I like the idea behind it.

Maybe you want to look in the Z presets we made here years ago for the Prisma, there are nice presets in it.

ChrisWerner: Thanks for that link re Prisma, I will investigate. I was thinking mainly factory presets but worth checking out anyway.

In fact, maybe I will add a seperate page for User patches.

Mr Arkadin / Next To Nothing : Yeah Im a bit puzzled myself about Prodyssey, may have to clarify w/ S|C - maybe thats an addition to 5.1 or new XITE's ?

The others, like B2003 and Profit 5, I think I got as included w/ Synth and Sampler pack w/ 5.0 upgrade on PCI, due to having enough DSP w/ 3 cards to qualify.

In fact, I could make a page for 'Optional' synths as well as 'User Patches' pages whilst still keeping the bog standard 'lowest common denominator' synths ( Mr Arkadin's top 11 ) and factory patches on thier own pages.

Way to go....I think...

Would still like to know where Prodyssey fits in .....but I'm probably right in guessing it wont come with a 3DSP card bought today for example.

Whereas someone with a 14DSP Scope Pro on Scope 4.0 upgrading to Scope 5.1 would no doubt inherit B2003 and Profit 5 etc.

I think we should consider the scope v5.1 stock list, it can be found there:

http://sonic-core.net/joomla.soniccore/ ... 21&lang=us

New in SCOPE v5.1

Instruments: Synthesizer and Sampler, Sampleplayer, Modularpatches, Arpegiator.
- Minimax
- Profit 5
- B2003
- Modular 2
- Modular III
- Vectron
- Lightwave
- Prisma
- SB404
- Poison
- EDS 16i
- EDS 8i
- BlueSynth
- EZSynth
- miniscope
- U KNOW 007
- Vectron Player
- Inferno
- Arpeg01
- STS-2000P
- STS-3000
- STS-4000
- STS-5000

so profit 5/pro12, b2003, vectron are there.
The synth'n'sampler and mix'n'master pack are now included with scope v5.1.
For old creamware systems, it is one of the main interest for upgrading to 5.1 if you do not need win 7 drivers for the moment.

So Prodyssey isnt there. It must be the last 'optional' synth left not bundled with any Scope version.

Anyway we can start with the synths in the 'new in Scope 5.1' list and I can flag in comments ones which also come standard in earlier Scope versions. Maybe a color code or something.

That way any prospective Scope buyer who sees the page would be clear on what synths they would get depending on whether they are buying a brand new XITE or just a second hand PCI card with only Scope 4.0 on it from here or eBay.

No there are more optionnal SC synth. These are:
- SC Prodyssey
- SC ProTone
- SC 6-strings
- SC Modular IV !!!!

just check:
http://sonic-core.net/joomla.soniccore/ ... 28&lang=us

I have all of them but host by different systems:
- the Prodyssey is on my Xite-1 but it was transfered from the Pulsar II card I sent back to SC when I bought my Xite-1.
- the 6-strings is on my SDK PC system
- the Mod IV is host on my small scope v5.1 system which is dedicated to ... modular stuff
- the ProTone is available in my NOAH (OK Prodyssey and 6-String are also there)

Hurolura, thats a good list - so those 4 I will put on a seperate page as 'optional' synths.

I think broadly there are 3 categories of synth / sampler inclusion :

1) Stock with Scope 4.0 and above
2) Included with Synth and Sampler package (either purchased or included with Scope 5.0+ if owning 15DSP or over)
3) Optional Extra (Prody, ProTone, 6-String, ModIV)

As an extra note regards purchase of Scope Hardware, 2) above would apply only to those purchasing 2nd hand PCI boards as for PCI, S|C only manufacture 3DSP now which would not included S&S package (I would assume).

Even 3DSP ? thats a pretty good deal then, and thanks for the clarification.

So its only the 4 optionals that arent included with any Scope hardware ( 3DSP / XITE ) sold today.

I suppose we could call them all (bar those 4) 'Stock' then. And only 2nd hand PCI buyers would need clarification on which ones they would get based on which version of Scope is on the 2nd hand hardware.

If all those synths in the 5.1 list are included on any new hardware today then thats a pretty good sales pitch in itself.

Anyway, does the following look right ?

Here's my 'so far' list - still need to do Minimax, Pro 5 Prisma nad Lightwave, but there's a lot of presets to sift through there. I have chosen two factory presets and two user presets to try and show not just the classic sounds expected but maybe something a little unexpected. I have included the name as well as the preset number in case they don't quite match (I often split banks or renumber etc. so differrence occur).
