how to obtain a MIDI delay?

Post by bosone »

is there a way to insert a delay of some milliseconds into a MIDI line, to "delay" the midi events?

i want to delay the notes i play from one hardware midisource before i route them on a second hardware mididest because i think i have some sync problems with the DIY midi sequencer built from ucapps.de

Can you route the midi into Cubase (I don't know if you use Cubase) and from there out to your midi destination?
In Cubase the midi insert Track FX has a delay of msecs.

Have you found a solution?
Are you on Modular 4? There is the VST MIDI clock. I don't know if this one could help you, I'll get my Mod 4 next week, just a thought.

Chris Werner with a Modular IV.............. :o
You will be making some crazy stuff, and I am anxious to see how you use a DAW w/ the VST Clock, or Cellular Data modules.

Cheers.

Yes Jim I can't wait to get my hands on it, there are very nice modules in it, all those gates or very interesting LFOs. I hope to get a xite1 together, then I will in heaven and will build my dream self playing modular multi instrument that lives.....

If i understands you correctly, i believe what you want in Sonar is called time+. Just go to a midi track and search for the parameter box time+ and adjust the miliseconds for timing of the midi data there. I think for multiple tracks you need to select the tracks then go to the top of Sonar's screen to the menus and choose TRACKS>PROPERTY>TIME+. Do a search in the help files for MIDI Time+ if more info is needed.
