Scope platform included plugins

Post by polemic »

Hi All

I managed to get past the spam bot signup page and have some questions for scope users.

I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with the "6 string" plugin, in that does it work similar to Applied Acoustic Systems Strum?

Also if anyone can give a brief rundown of the plugs included with Scope V5 it would be very appreciate.

Thanks

P.S. I was trying to use this link http://www.sonic-core.net/shop/product_ ... -V5--.html but it went to toothbrushes instead anyone know what's going on?

Thank you for that very quick reply! I thought I'd be waiting days

I am confused already

Anyway, my next question is when you buy the upgrade for 198 euros if you have a 6 DSP card do you get synth & sampler or mix & master for free?

I can see those packs (synth/sampler, mix/master) for 598 euro or is it Soniccore being very kind?

Thanks once more

That is absolutely awesome!

I've seen these cards on ebay people saying they are "equivalent" to what's selling now.

Found it hard to believe at first but have realized this gear is near 20 year old if I am right.

Pretty interesting stuff, was looking at warldorf and use-audio but this seems to have a lot of the same stuff.

Hint: whoever is making the website maybe consider one section for what's included in each version, eg 3/4, 6 and 14/15 DSP where it's the same and a section for each category where it is different.

Anyway thanks again for responding

Hi

How do you mean 12 DSP system?

I thought there was only 3/4, 6, & 14/15 DSP units available or was a "special deal" made in your case?

Pulsar2 (6) + Luna2 (3) + Luna2 (3) = 12 DSP. I thought I may have missed out on both packs by 2 DSP but that wasn't the case. No idea why. Maybe because at 6 DSP you get to choose one, so having 6 DSPs twice gets you both packs.

As far as I'm concerned, getting this amount of value wipes away any other negative concerns I've read about the platform regards paying for this or that twice or this or that not being cheap enough. Net over the whole decade what I've paid for the whole Scope thang (cards + soft) I consider the overall value exceptional .

Interesting so if I purchase more cards maybe Soniccore will allow me to use all the software.

There seems quite a lot of 3rd party stuff, maybe that's why they have managed to be so successful since there is way more diversity in this platform than any other AFAIAC

...or just buy a 6DSP board from here with the 5.0 license already if you're lucky..

http://forums.planetz.com/viewforum.php?f=8

Check with S|C before you buy though to see if you'd have to pay again to get both packs, based on what the 2nd hand board has already licensed with it. Not sure how this would work but likely you'd get a great deal one way or another.

6 string is not quite like Strum. It is a physically modelled guitar, like Strum, and is capable of some beautiful sounds, not just guitars but harps, zithers, etc. as it's modelled, you can also push the boundaries to create some fantastic instruments that never existed in real life.
What it does not have, though, is any automatic chord or strumming functionality, so you have to play everything by hand, or sequence it. So achieving realistic emulations of guitar playing techniques is time-consuming, compared to Strum or (eg) RealGuitar. I've had good results, however, using Real Guitar's midi output to play chords / strums on SixString.

Personally, I love it - it's extremely playable and some sounds are really beautiful and evocative. Thought I should warn you about the lack of automatic features though.

Hope that helps,

Ben

PS You asked about the other plugins - I'm sure you'll get an opinion here on any specific plugins you're interested in.

Thanks Ben for that info

Maybe SC can make a deal with AAS, or come up with something equivalent themselves.

I don't actually understand how Strum or RealGuitar work but they as you say do the job, but sound is important as well so if "strums" can be sent to 6 string then maybe it might work.

Be nice if there was a demo somewhere :-?
